Ours is through bankers. We got hit by the tornado at the end of February and had close to 50k in damage. Our neighbor's have State Farm and paid $3k in deductibles whereas we had a flat $1k deductible. And our premium was the pretty much the same as our neighbor's. They were easy to work with and didn't give us a hard time about anything. Will use them for our next home.

So HF, paying an $18,000 deductible and higher premium for my house rather than a $1,000 all peril deductible makes sense to you?

Thanks for all the feedback. After shopping around, I think it'll be best to stick with my current carrier.

You actually have no clue with what your talking about. He big three (Allstate, State Farm, Farm Bearu) have abandoned south Louisiana. They are not writing full polices anymore. You will be stuck with a split with the Wind/Hail company being La Citizens which is the worst company you can have. There existing customers have jacked up there rates and left customers with 3 and 5% deductibles.
The fact that you sit here and bash independent companies and can not name more than one that has ever went insolvent. I have been through Katrina, Gustav, Issac, Floods in Mandevillle, Tornados in Laplace and other areas and there has been no problem paying out legitimate claims just like your big 3. Your getting wrapped up in the commercials and advertising. These companies actually want to insure your home and keep you as a customer unlike your big 3 who has left the southern portion of our state high and dry. I will put up anyone of my 20+ companies over your big 3 anyday and I promise you I can get you better coverage deductibles and premium with a company that's backed by the state and is A rated.
