Screw you. Rode with you for that last five years but married filing jointly with a new home, interest, taxes, origination, and new car sales taxes to deduct is evidently too much for me to keep doing it on my own.

CPA here I come...

Huh?

Filed with TurboTax on Thursday.

Married-Joint with lifetime learning credit and itemized deductions, including sales taxes from vehicles, student loan interest, mortgage interest and insurance, and about 17 different charitable gifts.

$0 to file.

Very well aware that your mileage may vary. Millions may to be quite honest. Just venting a bit.

Congrats on filing your taxes, by the way. Better man than I am when it comes to Intuit!

Seriously?

All of these programs lead you through this. It's WAY too easy.

Go to TaxAct.com - it's free.

I'm trying the H&R block software this year. Last year did TT, before that did taxes by hand like a literal Neanderthal.

H&R Block is half the price of TT. We'll see if this is penny wise pound foolish, but I figure the statutes are the same. I might cross-check by entering my data into my dad's copy of TT just to see what comes out.

You can deduct the greater of the two from your federal return if you are itemizing:

-state/local sales taxes paid (this includes vehicle taxes and registration fees in LA)

Or

-state income taxes paid

Turbo Tax takes about the same amount of time as gathering the info to start with, I have yet to come across a situation that I cant get thru. Homes, kids, medical bills, job expenses, home office, etc. It asks questions, you answer.
