Health Savings Account
Posted by eazyeric23 on 2/21/13 at 5:03 pm00
Just switched jobs and now have a high-deductible insurance plan with Blue Cross. Anyone have any experience or knowledge of the best places to start an account? Looking for low fees and administrative costs, as well as good funds.

I honestly found choosing a bank a pain in the arse. I ended up going with HSA Bank. Even though paying 3 bucks a month sucks arse, their partnership with TD Ameritrade gave me commission free access to vanguard ETFs that I wanted. Had trouble finding a company who could get me Vanguard access for less than 36 bucks a year.

Yeah, it will be difficult finding someone to handle your account forless than 3 to 4 bucks a month. Not real competitive.

Our BCBS policy is through Farm Bureau so we went with FB Bank. Haven't had any problems.

So, what is the max tax break doing it if one doesn't work anymore?

Try this one:
My Smart Saver
I have BCBS and this bank actually is set up through BCBS. I have checks and a debit card and no monthly fee if you get an online statement rather than a paper statement.
Works great for me, it earns an above average interest rate, and no fees.

+1
HSABank performs the functions I need it to. You get free everything, except the TD Ameritrade stuff, as long as you always use the card as a credit transaction, have over a certain amount in the account (think it is 3k) and get electronic statements.

fish I have no idea to that question ... does it matter if you work or not? Our max is like $6400 or so ...

I use smart saver. I keep enough of a balance to avoid fees and it has all the bells and whistles I need. I'd recommend them.

That is the problem. I'm retired. I have a high expence for health care.
