IMHO target funds charge too much and often hold more cash and bonds at any target retirement period than I would.

Arm yourself with some good knowledge about mutual funds. A basic place to start is US News. If you still don't believe you can pick them then choose an S&P index fund with low cost.

Up 5.9% - some international funds are killing me but a few individual stocks have done pretty well including T.

The past week or so should of been a major boost to most people, back doing fairly well so far now compared to 10 days ago.

Up 6.741% YTD, annualized at 13.936%.

I was almost entirely in junk bond funds to start, now I'm only 'mostly' in junk bond funds.

better than earlier in year.

this 401k is garbage and i'm not a fan of the lack of control but i cannot leave free money on the table.

meanwhile my RIRA and TIRA are doing fabulous.

brokerage account is ok.

i'm in so called bond fund myself(government, corporate, munis, MBS,etc) and it is slowly making me money to make up for this dastardly start earlier in year with other crap funds. It is currently yielding over 8%. Shows what a hole i was in earlier before switching funds.

I would like to start funneling money into a brokerage account so that I can play the small game stock wise. I have a good friend of mine who has a set of rules that has allowed him to achieve wins over a period of time.

I eventually would like this small game approach to grow into a full onslaught daily play on the stock market and worry less about what im making at work.

What the best brokerage accounts out there?

i have a TD/ameritrade account......and some still in my vanguard brokerage account. It's best you get a margin account. I like to trade commodities also.
