Can anybody recommend me a good mutual fund that will track the S&P?

Have also thought about buying shares of SPY instead. Can anybody advise on the fees of a mutual fund vs. ETF?

Thanks!!

Not really all that different usually, as far as I know.

If it's for a retirement account, a mutual fund is fine. If it's for a taxable account, I'd go with an ETF since they are generally more tax friendly.

ETFs are better in most cases due to tax, liquidity, and transaction fee concerns, but it depends on what kind of account you will be holding it in.

What kind of account is it more beneficial to own a mutual fund vs an ETF?

In tax advantages accounts, the difference is minimal and a lot of times you can get zero transaction fees on mutual funds. In that case, mutual funds are the better choice.
