estimate on sovaldi sale was 800 million to 1.2 billion, reported 2.5 billion...that's more than 100% above the estimate. Just crazy
Sad that its only up by 3% after hours which reflect the nervousness of investors about the long-term prospects of Gild and Sovaldi

I wanted to invest directly in GILD when I started my PJP position, but opted for the safety of the ETF.

Had a friend who I trust very much tell me he "loves GILD and to buy".

Did a search and found this thread. What are people's opinions of it now? Up over 4% today and he said the earnings are coming soon and I should look at getting in before it.

Any advice/information/suggestions?

TIA

I like GILD very much. Others that I like are PCRX for their Exparel drug, which doctors love in the Hospital, and BDSI, which I think is on the verge of some nice, long term gains.

Wish I would've got in when it was being touted on this board a while ago. It dipped to 60's b/c of some legislation or lawsuit or something. Everyone said it would pass, and sure enough here it is over 100.

I can't comment on the Gillead stock, but I can comment on the Sovaldi.

It's freaking amazing! 12 weeks of treatment to get a viral load of zero.

This drug is, quite literally, completely changing the treatment and outlook of HCV patients.

Patients without any answers before, or who just couldn't handle the interferon treatment, are beating down the door to get on this treatment.

Harvoni is much better. It is Sovaldi without the side effects. I have been loading up on Jan 16 110 calls.
