don't get stacked ones whatever you do.

A couple of relatives have LG and from my limited use they are very cool.

We've had a Maytag set for five, maybe six year now...

No problems of note.

My apartment came with a LG frontload washer/dryer. I can't believe how long the dry cycle takes.

you read good and bad about all brands...I think I am going to go with the Samsung...seems to be rated highly by Consumer Reports and JD Power.

Are the pedestals worth $189.99 EACH?????

I didn't get a pedestal so I don't know if they're worth it or not.

We had a fairly expensive stacked unit because the design of our laundry room only had enough space for that. After multiple very costly repairs we scrapped the unit (at 6 years old) and paid someone to enlarge the laundry room. We got to know the repair guy very well. He spends a LOT of time fixing stacked units and his opinion is that all stacked units are junk.

Samsung with pedestal...best on market without a doubt! The pedestals save your back when loading and unloading; the wife's back doesn't bother her near as much as it used to.

Just bought an LG washer four days ago. So while it's working wonderfully right now, I don't think four days is enough of a testament to it.

I've had LG for a couple of yrs now and haven't had any problems. The thing that I liked about LG vs any of the others is that the washer is direct drive so there are no belts to worry about. The only other piece of advice I can offer is to remember to leave to door to the washer open when not in use. When shut, the washer has an airtight seal and mildew can form if you leave it shut when not in use.

Also considering a new front-loader set. Is paying for a washer with steam cleaning option worth it?

I wouldn't. When we got ours, that was one of the options. If I recall, you have to fill this resevoir up with water to make steam. Wife and I figure it would be a neat option for a week or two, then we'd never use it again.

I own an LG washer and dryer. I've had them for about 4 years.

No complaints.

This has to be the biggest ripoff I've ever seen. They intentionally make the machines too short for any normal person so that they can charge you extra to get them up to working height. The things people will pay for these days...
