Financial Advisor help

I'm looking for a reputable financial advisor in the New Orleans area. I'm 37 years old and I've always managed my own 401k, ROTH, etc myself, but I think I should start getting more professional advice.
A couple of guys I work with deal with Ameriprise Financial Services, but I've read a fair amount of negative reviews about them (not their particular advisor). One pro is that our particular advisor with Ameriprise is familiar with our 401k funds (which are many), benefits, insurance, pension plan, etc with our company. Their fees are pretty high, but our company reimburses us up to $2k for financial advisor fees.
Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with Ameriprise? Any advice or financial advisor recommendations is definitely appreciated.

Interview several advisors from the big firms (Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, UBS, etc.) until you find one you feel comfortable with. Find one who tailors his advice to meet your short, mid, and long-term goals. Don't focus on your investor type(i.e. conservative, moderate, aggressive). Focus on your financial goals and go with a plan that gives you an 80% chance, or better, to reach them.
If you can't find one who you feel comfortable with, you can also pay a little extra to some of the online services to have access to an advisor. I know Merrill Edge has both self-directed and consult level subscriptions(for an additional fee).
