I’m about to pick up a few side consulting projects and my wife is moving into a self-employed position and will need to operate under an LLC.

Can my consulting work be performed under this LLC if we’re both registered agents? Or do they need to be separate given that these are two separate industries and types of employment.

It is extremely easy to form an LLC so I'd probably just make two.

Yeah I see people mix differing types of business sometimes under one LLC. I just think the more segregation of liability the better. Ex. I don't want rental property being subject to seizure for my law practice.

For the minimal cost of running both of them (annual fee, upfront fee, checks?, tax return costs?) I think its worth it.

You don't NEED two LLCs. But since each of you are doing, I assume different things, I would do two. Makes recordkeeping and taxtime easier, as you will want to file 2 Schedule C's.
