Credit Protection Charges on Credit Cards

I always notice a 8.95 charge on my CC for this shite desined to protect me from ID fraud.

Is it worth keeping?

Is it a scam?

No. Just check your own credit report for free once every four months. Each of the three major credit bureaus is required by law to provide you with a free report once per year. Once per year / 3 bureaus = 1 time every four months.

Nyet! They'll honor the terms of the contract, it's just that you pay waaaaaay too much for it.

The likely scam is that some unscrupulous card issuers will enroll you if you didn't explicitly decline.

It's a scam, foshizz. $100/year to provide something that almost nobody can benefit from? That is a scam.

Remember, if someone steals your CC # and you discover it 'timely' the bank has to absorb the charges to your account after the first $50.
