just applied for my second card and was approved. will that negatively affect my credit score? or not change it at all?

and if i close my bestbuy card, that i previously had through circuit city, affect my score? i never use the card; it has a low limit. had it for about 5 years

Since it is your second card, you should be fine.

It will most likely go up, since you now have more available credit.

Department store cards are not really good to have, but depending on how old that card is, it may actually hurt your score since your credit history will be shortened if that is your oldest credit line.

I suggest you keep it open until you at least have some years with your new card. Erasing the history of the previous card will negative affect your credit card. Last time I checked my credit score was 835 so I should know what I'm talking about.

FICO or FAKO? Where did you get your credit report and score from? And how old are you?

A credit score above 800 is not unheard of at all. Mine is above that also. I've been working on it for 30+ years.
But, at this point I don't care what my score is. Any money I borrow is done in a direct negotiation with my banker.
My advice to the OP would be to find a local bank and start developing a relationship with someone in the bank. And DO NOT buy stuff with a credit card.

It can be done if he is old enough. My mom has a credit score above 800. I have had credit since I was 15 and have done everything perfect. Mine is only in the 750's. If he is in his 20's I call BS.
