Yeah I know that. I was just looking into Excellence Riviera cancun on the Portal and some of the rooms listed don't say all-inclusive. I just find this weird because I think excellence is all inclusive period. Its probably something I would have to call chase or excellence about directly. Just figured I'd ask to see if anyone had any experience with that in the UR portal.

Any wine drinkers have an Amex, they have a pretty good deal right now, spend $50 online at Martha Stewart Wine and get $40 back.
Just bought 3 decent bottles of wine for $10.
Probably never go to that site again, but can't pass up cheap wine.

Unfortunately you may have to walk across an airport to find out if you are paying or not.
Seen some articles saying that guests are free. Going to be at the Orlando airport and I don't see anything on those lounges.

Anyone go through the process of cancelling a "non refundable" hotel booking booked with points through the Chase UR portal? Need to cancel the room I booked for the LSU game in Houston for obvious reasons. I would assume in cases like this I will still be refunded my points...

Call Chase, it should be covered under travelers insurance/trip interruption claims
I believe you should get a cash reward in the amount of your itinerary $ amount though, not your points refunded to your acct
Then when that is all said and done, you should contact the hotel and see if they'll hit you back for a double dip

Hah I already game the system up to my ethical limit. I would be happy with the cash equivalent refund.

Looking to find out if American Airlines offers a premium card that will get you Gold status. Any knowledge of this?

What's the best way to do an Australian trip?
Best friend is working there for ~8 months and wife and I will visit. Know nothing about Australia

Technically the best way is to use Alaska miles on Fiji airways and get a stopover in Fiji. IIRC thats 40K AS each way in Econ. Decent availability. But most people don't have that kind of AS (or SPG) miles.
Other way is to do UA miles. 40K again and 1 stopover. If you can find non-existent Air NZ availability you can build in a stopover in Auckland. No stopovers in Oceania because thats a different zone now (without adding extra miles).

What was it about business cards and Chase 5/24 again?
Posted on 9/12/17 at 8:26 pm to GenesChin
No cards from Chase if you opened 5 in the last 24 months. I think you can get some co-branded cards if you are over the limit. Not really sure which ones.

It is a bit murky but evidence points that you can get business credit cards if over 5/24, which makes sense since it should be separate credit report.

I also want to point out that I'm about to generate a shitload of points if my stacking of MileagePlus X and Chase portal works as I hope it does tonight.

They do not. If you get the Citi Executive card you get 10000 EQM with $40k spend. There are several Barclay cards that give 3000 EQM after $25k spend and the Aviator Silver offers an additional 3000 EQM once you hit $50k spend in a year.
I found it easier to just do a status challenge with American. After November 14th I'll have Platinum status through January 2019.

I also disobeyed a cardinal rule in the points game and speculatively hopped on the 40% Amex transfer bonus and turned 73k Amex MR points in to 103k Avios. I'm going to use them for a first class from HKG to LAX on CX. 119k Miles off peak. So essentially almost getting one first class one way award from the AMEX plat card sign up off of one card and I got the British Airways card and just hit the $20k spend for 100k points, so I'll have about 225k Avios.
2 First class awards from 2 cards is a good deal in my book. Need 238k for the 2 flights, but I'll just transfer over some UR points to get rest. I've never done long haul first class CX, so I'm excited about that, but finding 2 seats in advance will be the trick. They're out there, might just have to be flexible or be willing to be damn flexible up until the last 2 weeks when they start opening some up.
Damn do I miss the 72k AA miles first class from SE Asia to anywhere in the US. Still have to get our asses home from LAX to MSY. Might end up on SW with the companion pass. Tough to go from CX first class to the cattle herd of Southwest.
I started this game about 5 years too late. The golden age of churning in the 2000's to 2012ish were pretty damn great. I have a feeling people in 10 years will still be having similar conversation saying we still had some pretty damn good deals today.

My wife wants to buy something off overstock.com for the house that's pretty expensive ($3,200).
Using Chase Freedom Unlimited to buy overstock.com GCs on Mileage Plus X app. The Mileage Plus X app has overstock at 5x United points.
So that's 1.5x Chase UR via FU, 5x United via the app.
Also, since I have a United CC, I get a 25% bonus on that 5x.
Then I'll log into Chase portal which overstock is 2x UR points. Put thing in cart, use GCs to complete purchase.
So the haul is:
1.5 x 3200 = 4,800 UR
5 x 3200 = 16,000 United points
25% bonus = 4,000 United points
2 x 3200 = 6,400 UR
Total UR points = 11,200
Total United = 20,000
Total Points = 31,200
At a conservative .02 cents that's $624 in value back to me.
What's really cool is Mileage Plus X points post immediately to your United account. So no more waiting for a statement to close if you use the app to get the few you need.
Problem is I hit the daily $3,000 limit so I can't complete this until tomorrow.

Ya, I've messed with CX and 2x biz looks pretty easy but 1st looks like a PITA.
And I agree that I think there's still value there, especially if you have naturally high spend/income where you can earn and burn for biz or higher class. Otherwise, it gets a bit closer if you can't apply fast enough to make up for low spend. Also, with how cheap economy class is to anywhere on the planet, there is no excuse to not be able to purchase tickets outright, let alone with cashback, making economy redemption less rewarding to the non-MSing types.

That's pretty damn impressive. I have never used or looked into the mileage plus x app for any sort of purchases. But I have all the cards you mentioned.. I'll be checking it out soon.

Ya, my buddy got real into it and I keep forgetting about it until now.
An easy one is Uber. You can use your Chase Reserve and earn 3x points for travel since Uber codes as travel. Yep, you read that right, the cards still code correctly to the type of merchant you are buying from. Then add 1x points via the App. That will let you buy rides or UberEats.
Just play around with it.
