So I've found out that upgrading a Hyatt award room with cash can be a super legit deal.
Just bumped up a tier 4 room for $45/nt when booking with points would have been extra 9,000

Should I be switching credit cards every now and then (say once a year or so) to benefit from their sign up offers?
I've been using my bank's card with points (Wells Fargo) and have been happy with it. It's super easy, but I just ran the numbers and I'm only getting 1% cash back on all purchases. I did call the concierge once and booked a flight and hotel to Michigan from Alabama on 34000 points, so I think that was more around 2% "cash back."
My credit score is 809. Wife's is 795. If that matters.

Looking for my next turn and burn... Any suggestions out there?
Trying to avoid Chase, as I've done SW cards and sapphire reserved in the past 13 months... Going to do the SW thing again next January, so don't wanna even risk the 24 month bullshite.
Did Amex platinum 14 months ago, so that is out.
Whats out there with tons of points for signup? Maybe transferable to UR or Southwest (companion pass so double up on flights)

Sure do, but with some people's work/travel schedules they are earning so much it is difficult to burn them.
As I've read in a few places, these are the people who burn miles the "bad way" for goods or things like SPG moments, because they simply can't burn them fast enough.
Nice problem to have, except for all the traveling required to have that problem

Somewhat my issue... I travel so much for work and keep accumulating along with the bonuses I've earned from signing up for cards, I've got more points than I can use.
Was looking on UR this morning and will likely book a trip to London in the spring since round trip is only 85k points.

What's something I can get for sure to get some credit? Kinda pissed off lol
I'm a medical student and had no credit; I applied for the AMEX Every Day credit card, got it and used it for a few months. I was then approved for the Capital One Venture Card. No regrets so far.
I needed to build up miles fast for interviews next year, so that would be my suggestion to you.

Ah. That's what my gf did this year. Spent under $300 out of pocket for 15ish interviews. Only one was within driving distance

Ya if I was you I'd just go top end biz class redemptions only for international. That's what I do and I don't travel for work, but I get roughly one international trip a year and have little problem getting the amount necessary to do that for 2 people.

anybody have any experience with the American Airlines Platinum Select Mastercard? just applied for one and I'm wondering how is it. I've read mixed reviews about it..some people love it, others hate..some people say they don't honor the free checked bag and group 1 boarding, and that the 50k mileage bonus is a sham, others have said the exact opposite.
TIA
TIA

I've always received priority boarding. Idk about checked luggage because I've literally never checked luggage in over a decade. But I'm 100% certain they'll honor it. If they fail to, call customer service. Should be an easy fix.
And how is 50k Miles a sham? 50k Miles is 50k miles

Well, those people are idiots. The only time you don't get a free checked bag (if you used the card to purchase the tickets) is on an international flight coming home. Usually, it's from the Caribbean when you have to pay for the bag.
Again, to get the benefits you have to use the card. If you are booking with miles just use the card to pay for the taxes and fees.

Maybe that's a reference to their tightwad award space?

appreciate the info
yeah, that's what I meant people are saying it's only to limited destinations and what not

Though I haven't used my AA miles for a big award trip yet, a little flexibility and timing should make them usable. Two things I routinely end up not having but somehow making work with my URs.

Anyone else notice that CSR started a re-allocated the $300 travel credit upon the close of your last statement date? Noticed a new $300 credit for a flight I booked (which I didnt think would happen until 1.1.17). Just fyi, but may be common knowledge

CSR travel credits reset after the close of your December statement.

Delta Amex Gold: 60k points $0 1st year.
Is this as good as it get for Amex cards for pure points if transfered to delta for amex? Even the 100k platinum offer doesn't net 60k.
