I burned mine at the Park Hyatt in New York where the rooms were running $850/night when I booked it. You can't beat what is essentially a $1,700 sign on bonus for just spending $1000 in 3 months.
Same here. Plus I got 5k points for adding authorized user. Which went right to my Green Bay Hyatt room for 5k points which was running $400/night.

I did apply for the Hyatt Diamond through Twitter, but not expecting much.
I just did the same thing. I sent hyatt a tweet explaining that I'm a hilton gold but have $1,200 more spend on citi card to get diamond status and that will happen in the next two weeks. We'll see if they match me to diamond.

I got that Barclay offer too. I've been putting around 3k on CSP per month, so I could do it. Think the 45k is worth the lost UR points to switch spending to my AA card for 6 months? I'm not sure

God damn it.
I guess I should have just held out and paid the fee knowing this stuff was coming down the pipeline.

I'm about to get slammed with annual fees. My CC problem is starting to not be "free".
All coming in the next 3 months.
3 Barclay Aviator Reds = $267
2 Chase Hyatt = $150
2 Chase IHG = $98
1 Amex SPG = $99(not paying)
1 Amex gold Biz = $195(not paying either w/o nice retention).

No doubt.
45k AA points > 15-25k UR points.

Ya, you got a little murderer's row there.
Since Jan. 2013 when I started, I've only paid 3 annual fees
1 x Starwood @$65 (Not sure what I'll do)
1 X Barclay Arrival+ @$89 (will not pay second time, replaced with Citi Double Cash for Serve/Buxx)
1 x Ink Bold @$95 (Will keep, Avoided United, CSP, Ink Plus fees)

I've paid two. The Ink and the SPG. I'll never cancel the Ink, but I'll try and get a retention this year. I forgot to last year.
Really hard to turn down all those miles on the Barclays AA especially considering I get a 10k bonus when I pay the AF as well on two of them. Oh well. AA rich & cash poor. My wife will understand. She knows it's a problem.
Oh and don't forget to play the SPG game. I won $25 amazon gift card on last one.

So you get 2 free nights in a Cat 4 for sign up, right? Easy to use, no blackout dates?
I may look into the Hyatt as well since you get something for the fee. I really like Starwood but depending on what happens that could be done. Although, the Hyatt doesn't have the airlines like SPG. But again, who knows what becomes of the SPG Amex and how the points transfer after next year.
5k points is enough for a room with Hyatt?

I would do that though, I think I can swing $2,500/month for the next 6 months. I'll see if I get that offer.
And yes, we know about your 10,000 you get annually too...

Yeah, just saw the $95 last week. Why?

What the? You have 3 Aviators?
I have the Aviator fee coming next month but I think I may keep that one (higher limit, no foreign fee) and the Citi AA comes in March which I will probably drop unless they give me something worth keeping it for. I will try to get Aviator to cough up some pernts too.
IHG is a keeper since you get a night for $49.
Hyatt is one to look into although I recently have gotten the IHG and Southwest to go along with the United so not sure if I'll have issues for another Chase card?
SPG gets canceled unless they give me at least 7,000 SPG or waive the fee.
And I will definitely cancel the United next Aug as they only gave me $60 to keep it this go around so I'm not expecting that or better again.
Alaska is on the way in the mail and I may keep that one. If I do I would drop the Aviator next go around. I'm unhappy with AA award changes. You can get a new one of those every 3 months, Afro? So you just cancel one every 3 months or you keep them for like 8 months and then cancel? Same for the biz? So do you have like 3 Alaska cards at a time sometimes?
Besides Hyatt, what other card(s) should I consider right now? Thinking of maybe picking up the SPG and Alaska biz. I'm not going to get CSP.

Actually the 2 free sign up nights can be used anywhere. I used mine at cat 7 Hyatt in NYC. Annually you get a cat 4 for free with $75 fee.

Hyatts in small towns are often 5-8k

That seems like a heck of a deal to me. Currently, we only use our Chase Freedom and get cash back. That deal seems like a no brainer to me?

Someone hacked into my credit card rewards (Quicksilver) and cashed them all in. I don't know how this happened considering even I did not know my username/password. I feel pretty confident they hacked their system and it wasn't an issue of just figuring out my password and username. Both are incredibly random. This is the 2nd time I have had my card number or rewards stolen in the last few months with this credit card. If it happens again I am going to assume Quicksilver has horrible security because in all my life I have never had issues with other credit cards.

Are you in Thailand yet Teddy? Been in Bangkok for 3 days and headed to Chiang Mai on Tuesday. If you get the chance, go to Above Eleven rooftop restaurant and bar. View from men's urinal may be the best in the city. And I'm not joking about the urinal part.
