The flights were for two people.

I'd definitely call chase as soon as possible. Tell them you are going to be traveling and don't currently have a hotel credit card. You plan on staying in Ihg hotels, and thought this would make sense to get their card. It has worked for me.

I have already reserved a pontoon boat and a snorkeling trip.

Let me know how that goes and if worth it.

Pontoon boat rentals seemed to be a fairly decent price considering everything else.

You'll want to do a shark/ray snorkel tour. The amount of sharks and rays in the area is incredible(see also ball shriveling). Snorkeling in Bora Bora lacks pretty reefs/fish for the most part though.

You can find many of these excursions cheaper on the island when you are there, but you lose the ease of the hotel handling all the details for you.

14 hours in coach...damn that's a long haul, but that's pretty damn hard to beat. Rewards alone probably worth a couple hundred dollars.

If it was DL I would consider doing the mileage run.

Just go ahead and call tomorrow. And ya, just take some from that one or wherever, it doesn't really matter over the long run.

Nice, no reallocation needed. I called in and he said it was already approved and card was on the way with a nice limit. I wonder why it was pending in the first place..

I did the pontoon in Maldives and we did like it, maybe do here as well.

We plan on doing the shark/ray snorkle. Also, we booked directly with the companies for the pontoon and snorkle instead of going through the resort. They told me that they have contracts with the hotel, so once you get on the resort, you have to pay the higher fee through the resort. The strong dollar also makes both these excursions cheaper to go ahead and lock in now.

On another thought, do you guys think putting destinations / hotels you have traveled to (rewards or no rewards) and experiences in this thread or a new thread would be beneficial. It just seems to have a wealth of travel information here, and I think it would be a nice resource to have.

I never call. Almost never get instant approval and the card always comes in the mail.

Bora Bora has changed so much since when I went. The only excursions then were a sunset cruise or getting dropped off on a motu for the day.

I'd be happy to share the hotels I've stayed at, might be good to do another thread but that could go down quickly if not enough posting so I get doing it in here.

I just earned my 40,000 points from CSP

I have over 50,000 now since I also got the 5,000 for a second user.

I don't know what to do next

Definitely. I opened 2 in a week last year. You could potentially have almost 110k United points after. That opens up some pretty good redemption options.

Start churning the Citi AA Executiv card. Go to the Flyertalk.com forums and use link 7 from the wiki. You can churn the card and get 50k miles a pop and cancel the card without paying the annual fee.

If you can handle the minimum spend you can get a card, get one eight days later complete the spend and cancel the cards and wait 65 days and rinse and repeat. 100000 AA miles every 65 days. You do need a strong credit profile to do this.

New MS'r here, and trying to understand gift card strategy. I've done a lot of reading and keep track of all my spending/budgets/timeframes.

Currently working on 60k Chase Ink 3month $5k min bonus. I'll have the majority of the $5k with regular spending, but want to make sure I hit it, so I'd like to do GC to manufacture about $1k.

Since Ink offers 5x @ OfficeDepot, I'm thinking of buying $1k of AmexGC there, then going to Walmart to try to buy $1k of VisaGC using the AmexGC. Then my plan is to use VisaGC (with pin) to load Bluebird. Is that the most efficient method, or am I missing a step? Any help would be appreciated.

I've read that it's hard to buy VGC with AGC at Walmart, but it is possible.

Only reason to buy Amex GC first is through a Cashback portal that gives you some kickback for doing so.

You're better off buying VGC straight up from Staples online in your situation
