I think you can get away with using Wiley if you are crunched for money, but if money isn't an issue, get Becker. If you're an accountant, its the most important test you'll ever take, so just do it right and get it over with. Finish it quickly then sell it on ebay and recoup some $.

I think im leaning toward Becker..two coworkers just took it with Wiley and both had to retest...I wanna knock it out on the first try.

I passed all 4 exams the first attempt last summer. I never touched Becker. My university used the Wiley books. Also, I bought the Gleim test prep software.

My advice is practice, practice, practice. I probably did 2,000 practice questions for each exam. Good luck.

THIS. While I did take Becker, the thing that really helped me pass was doing thousands of questions. Now I don't know if these other companies have software with questions & simulations on them, but I'd go with one that did. Working questions out of the back of a book would be too much hassle IMO.

At the end of the day, whether you use Becker or Wiley or whatever, they're meant to be what they purport to be, reviews. Assuming you went to a half-decent college, there should be close to nothing in their books that you haven't already covered and already covered probably in heavy detail. They're basically just big reference books for the practice question data bank.

I've passed my first two CPA tests with Becker. Just took my third.

Becker is solid. As long as you put in the time and effort, all materials will help you pass.

It seems like Becker is pimped out more/marketed more than Wiley. Fwiw most people I've known who have used Becker passed each part on the first try.

I agree with this. Becker is definitely more widely marketed, especially on campus. Most people I know used Becker, so that's probably what I'll go with.

I think that is partially because its been around for forever. I think the Wiley's and Roger CPA's of the world are relatively new to the field.

That's an understatement! But you'll feel a great sense of accomplishment when you see those scores are above 75!

Good luck.

Get used to it, that's what your life will be like from ~mid December-April. Or May. Or June. And then from late August to mid-October.

LSU definitely markets the crap out of Becker. It seems like there's a Becker CPA prep advertisement in every part of CEBA...

Doesn't LSU (or some other way) offer students discounts on Becker/Becker scholarships to pay for it?? (Isn't Becker around $2000??)
