Out of those, Toyota is the clear answer for me followed by the Hyundai. The Buick is way too small and feels cheap on the inside, and Nissan's transmissions aren't worth the risk to me.

Agreed except I put the Hyundai ahead of the Toyota based on my test drives. The Toyota feels like a more rigid suspension and the Hyundai's ride just felt smoother.

Had one of those Buicks as a rental on a recent business trip. Really rough ride and the interior felt cheap and plasticky.

Thanks. I've read the same about the Buick. She likes it because the pictures on the Internet look pretty.

Since your list does not include Honda... ...just kidding...heres my input..

If you get the Buick...make sure shes 110% in love with it. I cringe when folks show up with them to trade in. You will get ill when you see how much they depreciate.

Kia, same thing.

No professional insight on Nissan...simply because I just don't like them.

How dare I say this...but if you must, Toyota is the way to go...

Well, you guys are going to be disappointed in me but I went ahead and bought the Buick. All of the prices were in the same range. About 14K after trade for my Nissan 350Z. So price was not an issue.

The real deciding factors were:

a. Acceleration hesitation. When turning onto a highway and accelerating to 60 the other cars had a fraction of a second hesitation from the time I stepped on the peddle to the reaction. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fuel injection system. But it was noticeably better in the Buick.

b. Ride. I was comparing the cars to my Lexus. I purposely rode over some rail road tracks. The Buick was just as soft as the Lexus. The others were a tad bumpier.

c. The wife. She knew I was opposed to the Buick going in and she made me promise to be fair. I was fair. She is very happy.

PS... The white RAV4 had a strange black trim along the bottom. Pure white looks much better.

Again, thanks for all of your advice. I'll be talking to you again in 3 years when it's time to trade in the Lexus.
