You will be very happy that you did it once you get it knocked out. People definitely respect a CPA, best decision I could have ever made for my career. It's like having a JD in numbers (I work with a bunch of lawyers on a project and they all seem to be afraid of anything to do with numbers, and are more than happy to defer to the CPA).
Eta: just to respond to OP, CMA is nowhere close to CPA in professional realm. It would be like comparing a secondary bachelor degree (or a minor) to a masters degree.
