I'm thinking about doing it. Any success stories? I think it's affordable, assuming you get a couple of gigs from it. I think it's a good way for potential clients to screen the business and builds an immediate comfort level.

I imagine the people who do it want to show that bulletin at the gates of St. Peter.

I can't imagine it would ever produce more business than it costs, but it's probably not the reason to advertise.

All things being equal (service & quality) I'll support a business owner in my Parish over someone else.

This is my primary reasoning. The old "Birds of a feather" adage is pretty legit. That's basically the same way Google develops its algorithms.... it's who you associate with.

How many copies are printed? And what's the parish size?

Do you think you can pick up $44/month in business?

Right now: 600 pieces/week. It's a small church. However, they are building a brand new "Big" church. Post-construction numbers should bring it to 1,000+ pieces per week. Getting in on the ground floor - so to speak.

If I pick up 1 gig, it should exceed $1k in profit.

We did it for years, more to support the church than anything, don't think we gained much business from it

We just moved from Baton Rouge to Pass Christian. I will definitely be using some of the advertisers on our church bulletin.

Same thing in previous church parish.

Most Catholic Churches.

Only Catholic Church I haven't seen it in was the one I grew up in where the deacon in the Parish owned a printing press.

I advertise in one that I get zero business from only to support the effort of printing the bulletin.

And no, I don't use it as a deduction at tax time, it's a tiny bit of money per year.

Interesting.

It just seems a little off-putting to me. If that makes sense.

I've never seen an advertisement in a church bulletin either. This is kind of blowing my mind.

They do get our Wednesday suppers catered and the business catering that week is always listed in the bulletin (chick-fil-a, moe's, etc), so maybe we pay less in exchange for that but it certainly isn't presented as an advertisement. That's the closest thing I've ever seen.

only if Rick's Cabaret was buying ad space...

This is the type of ad being put on bulletins... usually the back panel.

Yep - that's what I'm talking about. Will probably split the ad space with another business. So my total average ad spend $5.50/week for this one church if I split. Might even do 2 churches at that rate.
