I have been stuck at a job I really do not like for 4 years now. Very toxic work environment. I am close to 30 years old, and have a Liberal arts degree. What I am doing now does not require a degree. I am looking to get out of this field and pursue something more finically worthwhile. Something where I could build a career and advance into making a healthy and comfortable living. I really do not know what I want to go into. I really do not have a passion for anything. I really wish I did. I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some advice on how to get into a good line of work. I am really looking to see if anyone knows if they have career counselors or middle men into getting a good job? I really have trouble finding time on how to pursue a decent career. Thanks everyone in advance.

I have never come across a successful liberal arts major, fwiw.

Have you thought of going back to college for a specialized degree?

Wow. Only you can figure this out. Time to grow up and pick a direction and run with it

This is encouraging. But hey thanks for the honesty. School would not be feasible for me now.

It may be difficult to find a financially stable job if you aren't showing any passion. I get that you're in a toxic work environment but you won't be doing yourself any favors if you have no passion.

I've always thought sales type jobs really got people off their butt but you really have to want it.

Find something that you enjoy or have passion in.

Thank you for your response. I have thought about sales and will start filling out applications this week in a few sales related jobs. I have been told by a few that I would not be a good salesman, but I try not to let this discourage me.

Sales is all about passion and energy. If you can find a product or service to sell that you really enjoy then you will be set.

What kind of sales positions are you applying for?

Yeah I probably should have worded this better. I was trying to ask if anyone knew of like a middle man to put me in a line of work I could benefit and thrive in.

I think of sales all the time. I'm good at it and people like me. The problem with most high paying sales gigs is that you need a degree PLUS five to ten years sales experience. I've got the degree, but not starting from scratch to work my way up the sales ladder, plus i like my salary check deposited at 12:01 am every Wednesday morning.

Can you sustain a few months without pay to get your first commission check? I wish I could, but not willing to chance it.

Seriously, you don't have any family or friends that are connected to any job that might interest you?

Hey those guys make decent money, but do not think that is for me. Honestly man I have a bunch of friends and family who are in insurance, but that is hard to get excited about. I should have took advantage of career fairs and career services when I was at LSU. Thank you for the response.

How bad do you want a change? You're looking for someone to help you.

I have made strategic career moves from the start and made sure I have finally gotten to business ownership.

You're not "stuck" at a job. You "stuck" yourself at this job.

You're young enough to have a plan/goals that are attainable. However, too many people just have the end goal and don't know the steps to get there.

I'm glad to help you if you'll ask, but all I can do is give advice. It's up to you to make the change.

FYI--I have no degree and own a $20,000,000 company for 2016. I learned early on that sitting in class and charging up student loans was not for me.

Adopt Stoicism as your core philosophy.

"It could always be worse."

Happiness is a choice. People who are happy are happy in all kinds of crappy circumstances.

As far as work goes, I've yet to find a place I would work for free. At some level all jobs suck and all jobs could be worse.

I enjoy some of what I do (medicine), however, I have to do stuff that I don't enjoy every single day. I also find that 5% of the people you work with cause 95% of the problems.

Thank you for your response. You are 100% correct about the small group of employees causing most of the problems. I am just trying to find something with good money and bearable. IF this job I was in now paid well and there was room for advancement. I would be happy even with the toxic work environment surrounding me.

Thank you. I do want the end goal without knowing what to do first. I believe the millennial generation is cursed with this way of thinking. Not making excuses its just what I believe. I would love any advice you would be willing to share. Thank you so much.

Take the last and score 170 and you'd probably get full ride to LSU law school
