There's plenty of wisdom to find in my post. You gotta sort through the sarcasm. FYI, i'm only just an independent insurance agent in LA.

I drive a 1999 Ford F150, nowhere near the $ of your ride. And I have my home insured through Farmer's. Still - $140/month? I'd shop around. Or ask your agent if there are any discounts available because of your clean record.

I just put a reminder to call tomorrow. I'm a little embarrassed I never questioned if I was paying too much. I qualify for a few discounts and I just assumed this was about average.

Man I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what.. but everywhere I look online I am getting high quotes. Like ridiculously high. Geico was $142/month. Allstate was $193/month.

I entered all of my current coverages.. not sure what the deal is.

I've never looked up my score but I've heard that looking it up can hurt it. Don't know if that's true or not.

Regardless, I should have a good score. I applied for my first credit card last year with AmEx and somehow got a $17,000+ limit. I pay it off each month, I've never been in debt, etc. I think I might call some local agents rather than trying to do it online.

Definitely call an agent in your area and let him shop it for you

Call an independent agent and let them shop it for you.

another way to save is to pay in full premium especially with companies through Independent Agents

That's true. I pay mine bi-annually and it saves about $120/year as opposed to monthly.

Thanks I'll look into that too. I'd rather just make one big payment anyway.

My credit rating is way up there so that's out.

I didn't think about lump sum paying annually. My guy said that would save me $100/year.

Oh and your college degrees save you about $5 bucks a month.

If you live in Louisiana, you probably won't do too much better.

Exactly, I would tell everyone to look around but car insurance is very expensive here so you can't compare what you are paying here vs what someone pays in Arkansas or Mississippi. It also depends where in Louisiana you live, I know it is very expensive in Orleans Parish.

This is a no-brainer, raise your deductable. I carry a 5k deductable....if the company wants your business they will write the policy. They don't like it but they will, or change insurance companies. Your ride is over insured ....ask around...look at the Blue Book.
