My wife and I are in need of a new car. I have read the will cover thread to car buying and we already have pre approval from our credit union. We were searching for infiniti dealership near lake charles and came across a dealership in houston that has the exact model we wanted exact color and miles we wanted for the price we wanted to pay. We do not however want to make the drive 5 hours away to Houston.

How much of a hassle will it be to get the dealership to ship the car to the dealership in lafayette and we drive there instead? Is there a cost associated with this or can it be negotiated. Im not sure how the dealer transfer works

Houston is just a 3 hour drive. It'll be a lot less hassle to just go drive and pick it up.

Usually you buy from the local dealership and they'll swap for the vehicle you want, but may not be as willing to give you the price the other dealer will.

in my experience, the dealer will ship and you will pay for that cost. of course, the "cost" is negotiable

I drove to Dallas for my last car, because the Dallas dealer made it worth it vs local dealers who would not budge on price.

I really am thinking about just going to houston we actually live in covington and were willing to drive as far as lake charles so basically 5 hours away to houston. Now i am thinking of catching a cheap flight and just getting it.

What is the big deal about just driving there, five hours is hardly a long drive especially if you are getting the car for a good price.

This... depending on when Southwest one way to Hobby can be less than $100.

Is it a Mac Haik dealership in Houston? He now is coming in heavy in Jackson. Maybe he will ship to Jackson, just 3 hours from Covington?

New Infiniti purchase (over priced Nissan) and complaining of a 3-5 hour drive. Typical.

If flights are too expensive, you can also rent a Fiesta and drive it one-way for about $250 or so.

Tell the dealership I am choosing you and flying to you. I need you to pick me up from airport and I need the $121 for the flight and this is non negotiable. This is yes or no for you. If yes I'm booking flight and taking car home and if no I'll find a Local guy to sell me the car.

Also tell local guy its his last chance. Are u gunna step up or not? Yes or no?

Clarify the yes or no means don't counter me mother fricker

Not everyone wants to purchase a Pathfinder coach. How ignorant.

As the desk manager, i'd much rather pay for your one way ticket versus trucking it to you.

Trucking that distance would be at least 450-500.

This is what we ended up doing wish we knew last night about availability but whatever. Wife caught a flight for 250 and I told them I would need that flight price taken off the car amount and they did pick her up from the airport. It was southwest Infiniti. We had a pre approval before going but they were able to beat the rare we got at the credit union.
