I hope they don't start taking away branches nationally. My wife's firm reimbursed her travel using checks that don't work with any mobile deposit app (I've tried 3/4) for any of my banks so I need them for check deposits.

i believe the Capital One bank in the Capital One Building here is closing and they're re-naming it Hertz Tower or something (not a joke post)

The one in Donaldsonville did close. I wouldn't worry about it being a company-wide issue though. Donaldsonville is a terrible market for a bank since most prospective customers in the area only use cash and the ones who don't are moving out.

They have closed like 4 up here. Friend of mine just left for another company. Most places will be self service types.

They've closed several in my area - DFW. It's annoying because that's one of the only reasons we picked them, because they had multiple branches in both TX and LA. They also are not reimbursing ATM fees for using other banks, despite the fact that they now have very few ATMs available.

Yep. They have converted many traditional branches to self-service places. No tellers, just ATMs and screens inside, with one employee (for now anyway) to point you toward them and maybe show you how to operate it.

And some consultant apparently convinced them to go all modern and paperless even at the traditional branches. They are all white interior, with screens in the lobby but no damn deposit slips, pens, or other helpful items. Very sterile, like a sci fi movie.

I get cash at the ATM in the lobby at the main branch downtown and then have to wait in line to get a damned envelope (all paper is kept out of sight behind the counter) from a teller. The teller told me last time that the employees sneaked some envelopes on top of the ATM where we could find them. I'm sure a manager will put an end to that helpfulness.

I think they are determined to put themselves out of business. If I can't get service from a human when I need it, I'll be a hell of a lot more likely to switch to an online only bank if it offers better terms.

Here is an article about it.

Capital One Financial Corp. plans to spend $160 million this year closing some branches and renovating others.

***

Capital One wants its branches to have a sleeker and more modern look, in some cases removing teller windows entirely and in others installing iPads and other technologies to help customers navigate their online accounts.

They closed the branch 3 minutes from my house in Slidell, so now I have to run 10-15 minutes away for the new branch. PITA.

Good , I hope they close them all. The employees around 99% of the locations around Baton Rouge are complete idiots. I recently left them and happy with Usaa. Opened a account with chase if I need to deposit and transfer cash only.

They used to have two in Chalmette, last year (I think, maybe 2 years ago now) they closed one of the two.

As far as the teller-less locations, Chase is doing this crap too. My wife has a Chase account and I had to go make a deposit once. Apparently individual customers aren't allowed to use the drive thru, and inside there is only one teller and a couple of big machines.

I love tech as much as the next person, but personal service should still be a thing.
