This is my hesitation right now even though we are looking - we have now started looking at used.

it amazes me the amount of people who buy campers. By the time you figure out truck to pull it, camper note, insurance, renting a spot for the weekend, extra fuel, etc. you can stay at some damn nice hotel rooms or cabins for 1/2 the price!

It's not that I don't enjoy camping and using the camper, but it's really only worth the trouble/effort to me if I have a minimum of a 3 day weekend.
By the time I get off work on Friday, drive home, hook up to camper, finish loading up, travel to campground, get checked in, park camper and set it all up, then its 9-10PM and time to goto bed. Wake up and enjoy your Saturday. Wake up Sunday morning and repeat the steps in reverse from Friday afternoon. Way too much work and effort for one Saturday of enjoyment. I'll save the $500+ a month to book a nice cabin for a weekend if I want to go camping.
It'd be perfect for someone who works 4-10s or retired, or someone renting a camper spot long term and leaving it setup, or guys who travel for work and live out of them.
Unfortunately, work does not allow me enough 3 day weekends to enjoy it as I would like to.

cabin places, very limited, we camp in big groups, usually we'll have 7-10 campers grouped close together and party and hang out, hard to do with cabins. i have a truck anyways cause i'm a man. A camper can last 12-15 years if taken care of. Its your place, you keep stuff in it, we really have our routine down pretty good so we know what to pack etc. Its really important to have nice campgrounds/state parks close by that you enjoy to make these small trips
