Dealer said it would take 2 weeks to get the paperwork to my parish tax assessor? Anyone ever been through this process?

I bought a car in NY in December. Dealer took care of everything and I wrote a check to them above what my taxes would be. They returned the excess via mail with my license plate when they got it in. Was about a month process or so if I remember correctly.

I bought a truck in Arkansas in December and I live in MS. I decided to pay the taxes in MS when I registered the truck. However in MS, the dealer has 10 business days to get the title and taxes (in my case just the title) to the tax assessor's office or I have to pay a penalty. On day 7 when the assessor hadn't received it, I called the dealer and put a little pressure on them. They over-nighted it and I was good.

At the end of March, I bought a camper in Hammond. It took them 3wks to send the title. It apparently came in on Tuesday and I haven't been in to pick up the tag. In this case, I paid the taxes to the camper dealership and they had to send the title and a check for the taxes to the tax assessor. I'm curious how big of a penalty I'll have for not doing it in 10 days which obviously wasn't my fault. If substantial, the dealer will be getting a call.
