and she is looking to cash them in.

Is there a reason she shouldn't divest of them now? Is it a bad time to do this? Not a crazy amount, but I don't know anything about bonds. We don't really need the money but could definitely put it to good use. Thanks.

Bonds are at historic highs right now, but you will have to tell us more about the bonds if you want a good answer. She might be throwing away a ton of money depending on the structure.

Gotta give more details..

Bond quality? Maturation date? Callable?

What's your situation like? Do you have cash needs? Etc..

I'll check...I called her and her grandmother giving her the info tonight. Said she was told some of them don't mature until 2023.

Don't need the money. Nice house, one child 6 months, money would help but not an immediate need.

I'll get the info and post. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Sounds like you are talking about savings bonds, google treasury direct and they have a section that you can enter info form each bond and it will tell you how much they are worth now and how they are worth the older they get, use that info to make your decision, but also remember that you will be taxed on the interest earned on the bonds in the year that you cash them

If you just post the CUSIPs, ISINs, or even the ticker/coupon/maturity I can tell you everything you need to know. Just give me the par values with each CUSIP.

You just know he is going to come back with an answer of a 9% muni from a stable arse city. We've been busting our asses looking for yield for customers for years now.
