I haven't used Excel in a while and I'm getting confused with a Bond amortization schedule.

This is for my Advanced Accounting class btw and should seriously only take me 5 minutes

I am to give a face value. $100,000 seems good. Coupon Rate: 8% and Market Rate: 10% semi annual for 10 years (so 20 periods) So it is a discount amortization. Easy as could be with a pen and pad but I can't figure out how to get the Present Value using the PV function.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple but I can't figure it out. My lack of excel knowledge is bad right now.

Any help would be welcomed!

In an am table, PV = outstanding principle (beggining value).

In excel, the PV function is =pv(rate, nper, pmt,fv,type).

Not sure which one you are looking for.

If you need an excel template for bond amort tables, just google and there are a ton of good ones.
