Loaned a German friend $100 after they were robbed (lost bank cards and cc). What is the easiest and most efficient way for them to pay me back? We are both outside of our home countries (away from our banks) as well if that matters.

Thanks!

Well an international wire is gonna cost $30-40 so thats not worth it. Try Western Union?

Direct bank to bank transfer. Chase IME is the cheapest. $15 flat. You can also try PayPal if Germany has PayPal.

Anything wrong with just telling him to pay you $100 next time you see each other?

Thanks. PayPal seems like the best fit.

I use the term friend more loosely than perhaps others. There is a good chance we will not see one another again.

It's $100. You helped him out in a time for need. Just push it under the rug and tell him it's a gift, And hope someday he'll be a friend to you and return a favor

Why would you want it back? It's $100 man, let it go or tell him to buy you dinner by mailing a gift card.

Are you that poor?

Nice assumption...but incorrect. Some people have pride and will refuse help unless they can repay what is given. I would lose no sleep over not being paid back, but perhaps they might.
