13% of the agents sell 91% of homes. If you do end up having to list make sure you use a top agent.

I sold real estate in Lafayette up until about a year ago and most resales were at 6% and most new construction was at 5%. There are a few discount brokers and I would certainly help out clients on occasion depending on the circumstances.

We had a realtor that we were considering using, but we wanted to try FSBO first- after 1 week and 1 open house, he called and asked if we were ready to list with him. When my wife said no, he said 'Well I guess it's fine with me if you want your house to sit on the market for 6 months'. I wanted to take out a billboard right in front of his office when i sold it 6 weeks later for OVER asking price.

They should consider that TD readers are everywhere before bragging, where my son lives 450k might get you a one bedroom condo.

He lists his location as parts unknown, so his available buyers are limited to the missing link and other professional wrestlers.

Last house we bought was FSBO, and the lady we bought it from said the same thing - she got multiple calls a day the first few weeks her FSBO sign went up, all from agents, none of them wanting to bring a buyer but all of them wanting to sign a contract with them... and most of them were quite rude about it.

The realtor field seems to have a low barrier to entry, so I guess you get a lot of crap. You would think the realtor trade group would want to class it up a bit.

100% accurate

For the record I think most agents are worthless and will sell my current home FSBO, but if they are truly calling her stupid report them to their licensing board. I'm willing to bet they are just suggesting, perhaps aggressively, that you should use their services.

I'd do the EXACT same thing.

We will be listing our house at the beginning of the year because the wife got a promotion and we will be moving to KC. The house will sell in less than a month based on our location (best master planned community in Houston area, cul de sac lot, near new elementary and high school)...hate having to give money to a realtor for such an easy sale, but the company will be paying the fees at least.

after 12 years as a mortgage lender I have 4 agents that I work with and trust. I could go on for hours with the crap I have put up with from realtors. I had one yesterday torpedo a very large contract due to her not know how to do her job. Never hire family to sell a property !

Get their names and post them.

I'm tempted to FSBO just to tell some of those assholes to get fricked.

I am in no rush to sell so I listed house FSBO. Keep getting calls from real estate agents harassing and berating us for doing FSBO. We are offering 2% if a real estate agent brings buy a buyer. Anyone else experience this?

My mother was in the same boat for the last year or so. She wanted to downsize her home but was in no rush to move. So, she put her house on the market FSBO and waited until a good offer came along. She dealt with the same things from realtors about her doing it FSBO, etc. Ultimately, you certainly don't "need" a realtor, especially if you're in no rush to sell. Put it up and see how it goes. If you get no bites after a while, consider getting a realtor on your own terms.

Just sold my house FSBO, although I used a flat-fee listing service to get it on MLS. 80% of the agents that showed it thought I was using a seller's agent and didn't even know that you could get on MLS without one. Also, when I listed on MLS I had to sign an agreement disclosing what I would pay a buyer's agent. I went full 3%.

Had 25 showings in the first two weeks. I could possibly have gotten more money with a seller's agent, but not nearly enough more to justify the commission.

I had one get mad at me when I told her that if was going to pay realtor fees, then I needed to sell for full asking price.

Just sold my house FSBO in less than 2 weeks after putting out a sign. Buyers had a realtor so we negotiated 1.5% for realtor off of the full price offer. I had one call from a realtor asking if we needed help.

I sold my FSBO and used the MLS feature.

It was easy. Only thing is be prepared to show the house.

Saving get 6% was boss.

Might have to consider 3% for buyers with a realtor.

Real estate agents are so god damn annoying. When my dad had his house for sale by owner, he had an open house, and a couple came by because they were really interested in buying it. They had also apparently been communicating with a realtor, who "happened" to show up during the open house. My dad had never met her before, but she talked to him and was like "these are my clients, and I hope you will consider my commission if they buy this house." She never even told them about the listing or anything, just wanted money for doing nothing.
