In all honesty I have to say that Rivers wasn't far wrong and the clique that decided to banish him were not helpful to this board. Back in the crash of 2008 this board was actually pretty good. The Russian and suck ups board - meh, not really. Jersey remains the go to poster here but I wish he had thicker skin.

Yea as much as others disliked rivers, I always found his views interesting even though I didn't believe in them

Seemed like his ridiculous predictions and inability to understand other perspectives are the reason everyone hated him so much.

Did anyone see the argument where someone was picking 5 stocks and he was picking 5 commodities and the only way he would compete was if it were based on who went up the most dollars instead of percent?(the commodities were in $1200 range, stocks were less than $100.)

I always thought he was a little(or a lot) out there, but after reading that his ignorance really showed.

The problem with rivers was that he spammed the hell out of the board with flames and highjacked threads, not his views.

I was the guy that took him on.

I actually agreed to his rules, but wanted to be able to repick my stocks. However, he wasn't okay with that either.

ETA: Iphone autocorrect sucks.

We do represent opposing viewpoints at times but we also display them with class. The same cannot be said for Rivers.

Plus, if there was any worth in his views you'd have to dig through piles of misspelled words and bad grammar to get to it, which has a tendency to discredit the messenger.

Are you including his prediction that "wasn't far wrong" that gold would be selling for $35/oz this year or next? Or that the stock market (Dow Jones) would go under 4,000 this year? Or that the dollar would become worthless last year or this year?

Which one of those statements of his do you classify as "wasn't far wrong"?

It would be but if I recall, he didn't know how to use a ATM or know what a debit card was.

Epic throwback.
