So you mad at them because the house didn't appraise for price you agreed to pay?

How about being mad at yourself for not negotiating a good deal on a house?

PS: Most of the time when this happens you go to the seller and tell them they need to sell at appraised value or you are going to walk!

If it doesn't appraise, it doesn't appraise. Shouldn't your real estate agent and/or mortgage loan officer be handling the dispute with an appraiser anyway? They're the ones with experience on those kind of issues and have a better shot at getting appraiser to make adjustments.

So I canceled payment on the check.

Think they'll get the point and change their appraisal??

Have fun talking with the DA's office when the appraiser reports you for writing a bad check.

BAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Although it sucks, don't you understand they are saving you from overpaying by 5k?

Negotiate 5k lower on asking price and make up difference on side

This happens all the time with real estate. The "market value" (what you or someone else is willing to pay) is greater than what the bank is willing to lend for that particular property.
Often what happens is the buyer has to put up more cash or the seller has to lower the price.

Since no one else was kind enough to answer your question, I will.

You can't be serious. You cancelled payment on the appraisal?? Are you paying cash for the house??
Otherwise, it's the mortgage company orders an appraisal.

If you had 1/2 a brain, you would realize that the appraisal that came in 5000 under may have saved your dumb arse some money from OVER paying on the property.

Come on man, it's the OT. They think they're all smarter than real estate agents and no one should ever hire one.

First of all stupid you for leaving yourself no equity in the home and paying full price. We negotiated a price on our current home thinking we were going to have about 15k in equity after our down payment.

Appraised for 10k less, I went to seller of lowering price or I walked.

They lowered the price.

Actually, the "market" is smarter than all of us. The appraisal was proof that the market is smarter than all of us.

I'd go to their office with cash right now and tell them you stopped payment and apologize. Any other decision you make will be fricking yourself long term. People talk, especially in that industry.

It's a math equation. Square footage of home, under roof, times an average of comparable sales for the area. Not rocket science nor is it something they can fudge. You sound way too juvenile to be buying a home.

Bet you'll be thrilled when your mortgage broker tells you a new hit on your credit report has screwed up your loan.

You're under contract as a buyer or a seller? If you were selling, I'd understand your consternation, but its only $5K, and you should've had an appraisal done on the front end so you could competitively market your house.

If you're buying, this was an avenue for you to pay $5K less for the house you want.

Either way, you're a stupid son of a bitch and I hope your credit gets hammered, thus preventing you from obtaining future financing and you're stuck paying rent like a common fricking plebeian.
