Who stands to gain the most with Apple's investing into Mac production in the U.S? Are there any companies that you will be paying more attention to in upcoming weeks to take advantage of this?

I'd love to see them in the TV market. I think they'd eat up market share quickly on brand equity alone.

I am not an Apple fan, but I think they have a shot at this. I haven't really read anything about this, but I'm sure their plan is to integrate all of their devices with the TV. I'm curious to see if they try pricing their TVs at a premium.

this is a potentially very large market. I have a HTPC, and honestly there has to be an easier way to surf, watch movies and listen to music than what I have seen.
AppleTV needs major work though. Its just not aviable replacement for what I do.

They have a shite ton of cash to play with, entering the TV market would be very interesting. Obviously, you only think of a few companies when you think TVs, so if you could make a splash in that market, you can come away with quite a handsome sum.

That cash is obviously going to push them into the TV market to some degree. I still find it interesting they are making an effort to invest in beefing up the U.S. supply chain.

Ok can nobody answer the question? Yes they have money but WHAT are they going to do that is innovative and isnt already at market? Apple TV as it is today is no better than Roku. Its probably their least successful venture in the last 5 years. So what are they going to offer thats new in the TV market? Im not running out to buy a 3k+ 50inch TV without it being OLED first.

I tried a few different things before going to a HTPC a few years ago, and my big problem was the drive space was not enough for me, and the streaming of video files were haphazard, and managing music was a pain in the butt.
The thing is my requirements are probably outside the norm though. I have replaced cable with a PC and downloading (mix of file sharing/legit services) and streaming music/movies in different ways. I also have a really big music library (100gb+).
Wiht that said, you design for edge use cases not the everyday. That is how you innovate.

I just dont get what Apple is planning on doing that is anything new.
I used a system to interface with the PS3 to handle music and movies and such have just been better done via netflix,amazon,hulu apps. I rarely use Sage DVR anymore from it.

I would assume easy to use? Maybe truly get down to one easy to use remote, plus voice activation and gestures? I dunno, I guess we have to wait and see.

I have had ok luck with hulu, but my experiments with netflix quickly determined the quality wasn't good enough for my HD needs. This might have been an issue with comcast though. I dunno.

Nobody knows what they are planning on doing with the TV market. If I could look into the future, I wouldn't be writing on the money board... I would be ballin out on my Yacht in the middle of the Mediterranean.

Word is Foxconn is eyeing up the US market.
But I'm not so sure they'll be working with them in the US. So to answer your question whatever state/community attracts them. Just the reputation boost within the manufacturing sector is a huge boost.

Apple enters old markets and re-invents them. Apple was in the handheld market well before the iPhone/iPad with a failure, the Newton:
So by your basis you would have argued that they would fail at the iPhone/iPad market.
The point is we don't know what they would bring to TV. No one (Roku, Netflix, cable providers, Microsoft, etc.) have come near to making a perfect product in this market as of yet.

Siri is the future. Forstall's skeumorphic designs are being purged slowly but surely. I think the interface on iOS will be just as important as Siri once Apple moves into your house.
That's the real play. When Apple can hook your appliances and home into the "Internet of Things," and you can control them using Siri, they can start to observe and learn about you-about us-as humans on a level that no other advertising firm ever has...and it will be information more useful and worth more than anyone's ever dreamed.
Your car will use her. Your house will. You will. When its a ubiquitous aspect of the way you control you music, car, calendar, TV/media consumption, A/C, etc??? That's the real end game. All those Siri requests will tell Apple who you are more completely than ever before, and in ways nobody's ever been able to put together before.

Interesting. I don't know how much I like it all wrapped around Siri but I do like the cross integration between things. The problem with this sorta stuff is that you'll need to go out and buy a Apple partnered appliance. I'm assuming we can take Samsung appliances off of the list.

The only thing I can possibly see that is innovative is a pay per view tv experience. Instead of the big cable packages, you pay 99 cents for the NFL network Thursday night game, 99 cents for the Monday night espn game, 50 cents for a first run cable show (the latest housewives of x county, duck dynasty, etc).
All incorporated into an interface controlled by the iPhone (which acts as a remote control).
