The party is over. I bought years ago and make a bunch, but their products are no longer leading edge. They, like Sony and Microsoft and so many others, innovated, but have grown beyond their ability to maintain their products or create new ones.

Apple music is just terrible: It's 1/2 the media player that FREE ones are
iPhone is a joke: it's technically no better than others but sold at 3x the price. Can't last
iPad: Surface and convertibles are 'real' computers at a lower price
P/E of 15 sounds good: but there's no possible way the can continue to sell products that don't work at 2-3x price of competitors
Laptops: marginally better than those that sell for 1/4 price
Ecosystem: There isn't one. computers wont sync with iPhones, iCloud isn't as good as what Google or Microsoft offers, it's an ecosystem that doesn't work.

All they've got is a reputation for

* innovation, which they don't do anymore
* ease of use which they are not anymore
* technological superiority which they don't have anymore
* massive profits which they will soon lose due to lower pricing on new products

I bought APPL 7ish years ago when friends were going nuts over how incredible their iPhones were. I spent HOURS last few days trying to get my iPad, iPhone and iTunes to sync, which they won't. Searched the net and all I find is zillions of people experiencing the same frustration.

IT'S OVER. Apple products are crap.

There. Rant over.

I'm just glad I bought a good bit on the dip at 94. I think the apple carplay will be a good money maker for them. I'm not sure what manufacturers pay for that though.

Apple was an amazing innovating company, made lots of money, Steve Jobs left, innovation slowly died down, Apple fell on hard times.

Steve Jobs comes back, Apple once again becomes an amazing, innovating company, made lots of money, Steve's dead. Steve's been gone four and a half years now. They probably had enough innovation in the pipeline after he died to last a while, but I think that's dried up.

The watch isn't catching on, and they really don't have anything at the moment that truly sets them apart.

When that happens, it's going to be just like the PC in the 80s and 90s. Because their stuff is so much more expensive and incompatible with everything else, eventually, it will get eaten by the competitors.

I'm not a stock analyst by any stretch so I can't comment on buy/sell calls, but it's obvious that the company is lost right now.

It was a buy when I started buying it in the 20s (adjusted for splits). Now it's just another inefficient and bloated mess living off its past.

I've listed a number of specific reasons I think the company has dim prospects. Can you suppose your claim this its a buy?

I've been milking as much as I can out of my 2010 MacBook Pro because I just can't justify the cost of a new Apple at ~$1,100 for a laptop or desktop. I have a PC for work and absolutely despise it, so I'm not going that route, but that chunk of change for the Apple has prevented me from upgrading for 2 years or so.

The idea that Apple computers and iPads are 'barely' better is laughable. You are right in that their options and abilities are not often much better or any better, but the huge difference is that they work and work for a looooong time. How many people are still using another brand laptop after 6 years like the poster above? Few if any, apple laptops simply last until their software and hardware is too outdated to function. I can barely get 2 usable years out of any other brand.

Then quit buying shite. I still use my dell xps laptop that I got in 2009 that still runs XP. If you buy a $300 laptop it should be common sense that it won't last as long as a $2000 laptop. If you buy quality stuff and take care of it, it will last.

I've been using my Thinkpad x220 for 5 years and don't anticipate upgrading for a while yet. I've had to replace one or two parts on eBay but as long as you have a set of tiny screwdrivers it's very easy. Lenovo is great stuff as far as durability goes.

It isn't laughable when you compare other desktops/laptops with equal hardware.

If you got to Walmart or best-buy and buy a $500 piece of shite, you still have a piece of shite.

I game a lot and both my Alien-wares, while super expensive have never had a single issue because I am not technologically inept.

I got my desktop in 2011 and nothing wrong with it considering its age.

Three is a giant myth on APPL being superior. Don't get me wrong I have APPL phones, Ipads and even laptop, its not any different than the other high-end PC's.

Apple computers have an ease of use and tend to be more stable, historically, than PCs... but Windows has come a long way with stability.

I use a Dell laptop for work and have had it for four years, and with the exception of a single program that run a tiny bit slower now (due to the fact that the program itself has much more needs for resources than the version four years ag ago did), my laptop is essentially performing the same now as it did four years ago. My IT guy actually came to me about two weeks ago asking if I wanted to get a new one and I told him there was no reason to.

A lot of this is due to the fact that you cannot just throw the Apple OS on any hunk of crap like some of these PC brands do. Running windows on the bare minimum is awful.

Are y'all purposefully butchering the aapl symbol for some obscure April 1 joke?

They have $200bil in cash and even if they went to smaller profit margins, they'd make back the equity in the company.

If it shot up $125+ I'd have to give it thought but as long as they are making profit on their devices and have money, it is of no concern at current evaluations

I agree what everyone is saying about junk and Apple, but again that is all marketing. When was the last time you saw an Alien mainstream ad or anything else comparable to Apple's $1000 laptops? All I see are ads for terrible $600-900 laptops that are garbage after 3-4 years.

I'm not comparing highly educated users with knowledge of computers and software that you can fix on your own. To the average consumer, the ease of use and maintenance is still so far above and beyond any other main stream competitor. Its not Apple's fault my parents have never heard of Alien.

But adding to that, there is a reason that almost all design based businesses use and overly prefer apple products. It is not like they don't still own some markets and technology above just pure marketing.
