It's an automatic inspection fail in Virginia. Could be a nice little side business. I understand it can vary from state to state.

Grass. I've posted it in other threads but I'll put it here too. Just cutting in my subdivision..

8 lawns x $35/cut x 35ish cuts per year = $9800 per summer. Straight cash, homey.

Would be good for me I guess but kinda dumb thing to have to fail inspection if they are just kinda cloudy.

depends on your skills and how much spare time you have and how fast you need the cash.

there are tons of things to do online - sell stuff on ebay, amazon or your own website. offer services you can sell to others such as website and logo designs, sell other peoples stuff for commissions, etc etc

I know a guy who makes a living being an exporter. Basically, he buys things wholesale and ships them overseas to people for cheaper than people can buy locally.

He didn't tell me a whole lot how or what he does. Guess he thought I'd start my own business.

I can build cypress outdoor furniture but I can't figure out a way to market it other than having it either all set up in my front yard or weekend craft shows. Really, I can build pretty much anything outdoor carpentry related just by seeing a picture.

If only I could somehow turn my carpentry hobby into profit...

if you know what you're doing, it's not so much gambling as it is taking calculated risks. much more akin to trading futures than shooting craps. there's a reason professional poker players exist. and local 1/2 and 2/5 games are not exactly hard to beat. definitely wouldn't recommend it as a primary source of income though.

Its still gambling. The only person getting a bigger ROI is the house casino. At least with running a small business or taking on a second job you get your proceeds.

This is something I am interested in. How do you manage to fit this in with your full time career? I have a coworker who has to teach one course to complete a master's and he right now cannot make the time in his day-to-day schedule because of our work. I would like to get more proactive with the college in my town since it is less than a mile down the road. I just cannot see any conceivable way that I could fit it in my schedule.

A few more questions, how long have you been doing this, and how did you get started with teaching on the side?
