Ahem. Correction. I have a wife who is too picky with too high expectations.

She has some warped views on cars. You can find in my post history from a few days ago that she thinks 4Runners are top heavy and are going to tip over.

But like someone said after you, the true way to assess a used car's value is to figure out the quality of the actual mechanical parts.

So I had found a Nissan Pathfinder with 149k miles for $7k. Was seriously debating on purchasing it until I read the reviews of this particular used car dealership. Awful reviews with quite a few people saying the car was beautiful on the outside, clean on the inside, and ran for shite just a few months after purchase.

ou know of a brand new $13k vehicle that can transport two kids, a dog, and luggage? I also have a pop-up trailer which saves on hotel costs and allows for some extra vacation opportunities. Weighs about 2k pounds.

If you know of one that can handle that, I'm all ears.

No offense, but if you're just now getting your finances in order and can't afford to drop 10k cash on a car, perhaps ease up on the vacation shite and sell the pop-up trailer to get yourself in better position. you are not entitled to a vacation and SUV.

I grew up with 2 younger brothers. We rode around in a small sedan. We fit just fine. My parents rented cars for vacations (which was like once every 1-2 years). Much cheaper than looking for a "family vehicle"

Ramsey is a bit abhorrent with some of his callers. I don't like his views on a number of fronts.

I believe that.

I'm glad my gf was OK with buying a 10 year old Acura with 150,000 miles on it when her car broke down weeks ago.

Just needs something to get to work for now.
