Amazon paying Prime customers for slower delivery.

Pretty awesome, IMO. I'm glad I'm doing my shopping early enough to take advantage of this. For those that don't know, 2 day shipping is free for Prime members for most things. You can choose 3-5 day shipping and receive $3 movie/tv credit over the holidays.

I let my Prime membership lapse last month. Is the credit only good for digital purchases or also for Blurays/albums?

I imagine it saves them a ton of money. 2day is usually minimum 13.00 minimum. If you get slower delivery they can bulk mail them at major discounts.
I used to work at a warehouse/shipping facility in college.

I want to say both, but I can't recall 100%.

How do they make money? I buy shite all the time that costs less than $10.

I have to imagine they have bulk deals with all the major carriers.

They can literally tell UPS/FedEx what they will charge them. I know that DHL bent over backwards to pick up their new international hub in Atlanta. Amazon international was going to be like 90%+ of their total shipments.

I returned a pair of shoes from Zappos at a UPS Store last week. I was talking to the guy behind the counter, and he told me that Zappos pays them $1 per package on returns they do. Amazon has quite a bit more weight to throw around.

The amount of revenue they generate for UPS/FedEx must be gigantic. UPS/FedEx will literally do anything to grab more of Amazon's shipping

Well amazon also owns Zappos...

Last week I ordered 3 rather small items
I wanted one of them fairly quickly so I opted for the3.99 overnight shipping on that item
I wasn't sure how they'd handle it and if they'd all come from the same warehouse but sure enough, all 3 items came in the same box overnight
Score!

I wasnt planning on it or expecting it
It was just random, but it makes sense on their part to group them even though they don't always do that

I have a bunch of previous credits. How do I check to see how much I have? I've spent a half hr looking and still can't find it
