I've applied but haven't heard back after a month. Tried calling and boy was that a joke, called multiple times to follow up and they have yet to pick up the phone once.

I'm told as long as you apply by the 31st you are good. However I just want to get this shite over with because I have 0 faith in the city of New Orleans.

Is it this month? frick, I need to get on it
And yeah, of course I have zero faith in the city. Wouldn't be surprised if they do absolutely nothing about enforcing the new rules at all, and it ends up being you could have rented out anywhere just like before

Unfortunately if you use Airbnb they will delist your property if you are not in process by the 31st. The other websites are not cooperating so it shouldn't affect them at all.

Yeah, I read that. You're in the system so you're good. They'll get it to you eventually. I read an article that they're actually getting some shite done so I guess hang tight and they'll make it happen

They're busy with the statues right now. Once that's over, they'll get to your matter ASAP!

I'm headed to London at the end of the month, and Airbnb only allows owners 90 days of reservations for a year there. It's absurd. I don't know how you could trust going with anyone that's owner managed as it seems incredibly risky to have your place shut down. The city is trying to limit the amount of short term rentals because long term rentals have been driven up by the costs of the short term rentals. I'm sure the hotel industry has been lobbying for it also. But it seems much better to control that by zoning.
Anyway, my whole point is you don't need to worry about the city of NO as much as Airbnb shutting you down.

Not to derail, but this is the stuff that Airbnb really pisses me off about. They try and succeed to over regulate way too much, and I don't understand why.
For taxes for example, their tax is complete BS not being able to line item tax into their expense. Literally every other booking format does this.
For my Florida properties I have to collect 11% tax, but Airbnb only collects 6% for the state sales tax and fails to collect the local tourism tax. They supposedly pay it but I have my doubts. This does me absolutely no good though, because the horrible Florida Dept of Rev website requires me to submit exactly 11% tax or it won't accept the payment. So I just add 11% to all of my pricing, and pay it that way but that costs my guests an extra 6%.
I just don't understand why Airbnb tries to be involved instead of just being an ignorant 3rd party listing website and leaving regulations up to the owners listing their properties.

Pretty sure in Louisiana they collect the entire thing and if they don't frick New Orleans. I have full confidence they are not competent enough to catch me.
