(Posted on 10/21/07 at 9:37 a.m.) I am sure this has been posted, but the clock ran for at least two seconds after the catch was made and he hit the ground. So, it wasn't exactly as close to time expiring as everyone thinks... Oh well, it is history and we are now the BCS #3 (at least)... This post was edited on 10/21 at 9:52 a.m.

(Posted on 10/21/07 at 9:40 a.m. to Chicken) He caught the ball with 4 seconds on the clock. Actually it was "Home field advanatage" that ran the clock to 1 second. It should have been 3 seconds on the clock at the end of the game. It wouldn't have mattered just made is seem not as close as it was to running out of time.

Yes, there would have been 4 seconds left if it was incomplete, however, it still took waaaay too long to get the play off. With the confusion and bumbling that our offense has done the past couple of weeks, I can see everyone's concern and their collective sigh of relief that it didn't end in disaster. I think the key word is responsibility. It would have been a responsible thing to get the play off with a little more of a time cushion at the end, perhaps even calling the TO. Balls, luck, wreckless... call it what you will. Bottom line is we got the W. Bama game will be HUGE.

The UK and SC loss didn't hurt OUR rating, the helped BC's rating. How? UK and SC were creating a wedge between us and BC in the computers and that is gone now. So BC jumped up alot in the computers. LSU won't fall, BC just closed the gap. And they already have a big lead in the human polls.

Well, apparently people still think that only 1 second was left, and want to bash Miles for making it too close for comfort. At least now, it is clear that 3, maybe 4 seconds, were left and we still would have had time to kick the FG had Byrd not made the catch. I am actually surprised that ESPN did not notice this. (Posted on 10/21/07 at 9:54 a.m. to lsumatt) The announcers, and ESPN crew(Davis, May, and Granny) were still trying to make this an issue an hour after the game by saying, what if the ball were batted in the air by the defender- the clock would've run out. No it wouldn't have.
