A little concerned...
About Matt Flynn and Will Arnold.

Matt isn't throwing, and that should concern all of us. I know Coach Miles said it is "precautionary" and he is fine, but if he were really fine, he'd be throwing like every other starting QB in training camp. A "tired" arm in preseason is something to keep an eye on.

And Will Arnold being kept out of practices sounds bad as well. The coaching staff claims "we know what he can do," but that sounds like spin to me. An O-Line needs to play together as much as possible. My guess is that he's not near ready, so they will ease him into the offense as the season prgresses.

If Matt is having problems with his arm, RP will make or break our season. I hope he's coming along. And Jarrett Lee better be ready as well.

Anyone who watched Arnold leave the field last year should be concerned. The guy looked like walking death. I sure hope he has improved his conditioning as well as healed those sore parts.

I remember last year Miles talking about Flynn suffering from camp arm. I am assuming with great confidence that this is what is being avoided by holding him out for two practices.

It's called "Not putting too much wear and tear on your star players"

At least I think that's what it's called.

Oh yeah, and Arnold is about two steps away from riding around in a Rascal with a basket on the front for the rest of his life.

brother, that just makes me sad to read that. I really hope he has a great year to make this all worth it, you know?

I don't think so. Even if unintended, that statement is not off base at all.

I hope so, but I'm skeptical. Other starting QB's are getting tons of reps in camp. Ours should too. Especially since we have a stable of young WR's that need to get their timing worked out with the starter.

Good thing we have MSU to start, so we can work some kinks out. I'd love to see RP play a few series against State. I think we'd all like to see that. If we get a big lead in any game, I want Flynn out and RP and Lee in.

No, he wouldn't. It's precautionary exactly BECAUSE of what happened last year, he doesn't want him to get camp arm again. It wouldn't be 'precautionary' if he already had the sore arm. What part of that do you not understand?

not that I'm a worrywart, but do you really think coaches always mean what they say?

Isn't there just the slightest chance that Miles would not want to tell anyone MF has camp arm?

re: A little concerned...
I was thinking the same exact thing. What's going to happen when we play two big games back to back and we need him to throw 20 or more passes. We are in trouble if the backups are not ready.

Hey, no need to be a little bitch. Just talking football here.

If his arm is 100%, there is no reason to be "precautionary." If there is concern that he might get "camp arm" again, then the title of my post is dead on.

The last thing I want, is our starting QB to be less than 100%, but it sounds like he very well may be. In which case, RP better get up to speed fast, and back up the claims he's been making for 2 years.

re: A little concerned...
Maybe he also wants to make sure our other completely untested QB's get some reps so if/when MF gets hurt, we have someone who has a clue stepping in.

Nope, giving the backups more time to get ready just in case........

I hope they don't give him too much of a chance to BREAK the season.......forget the redshirt if RP is not ready and Matt goes down......Lee will be great!!!!! RP???????????

Yet you inferred that Flynn was hurt, thereby starting a potential meltdown on the Rant. Miles stated he WAS NOT hurt, therefore your thread was unneccessary. If you want to talk football, start a thread with SFP and Rocket, draw out some plays with a stick in the dirt, and debate the advantages of the power-I over the Veer.

Unlike everyone else who has replied, I am also a bit concerned. I find it a bit strange for the starting QB to be taking time off so close to the first game. The fact that Matt also had a tired arm last season has me a little nervous.

But since there is nothing concrete and we can only speculate, I am going to stay positive and visualize Matt coming back and leading us to the National Title.
