You think the same would've been done if it was Flynn or Doucet that got in trouble?

re: Miles is setting a standard...
well, they wouldn't....

but, i have a feeling that if either of them did, the same thing would happen...but, they'd probably be allowed back on the team...

They don't seem like the kinda guys that would get in trouble. It's very easy to get in a bar fight though. Anyway, the stance looks good for LSU. Just don't trick yourself into thinking he would kick a vital starter for getting into a bar fight.

re: Miles is setting a standard...
Fighting was bound to catch up with football players at some point. I know that when I was down there, it wasn't uncommon to see football players getting into it. I can't remember any football player getting booted from the team for it though until now.

I don't think Les would boot them off of the team if he didn't feel it was necessary. In a write-up in the paper this morning, it said Les had previous team-related problems with all 3 players.

But, hey, it didn't have to be this way.

The only real loss is that there won't be as much depth in the o-line.

Apparently you can't tell the difference between a black eye & bruised ego, and having to be hospitalized with a broken & wired jaw.

It appears to me Sabans discipline program is starting to fade. JMO.

Really? Has Saban started to "Weed out" the bad seeds at Bama?

I was completely taken aback, as well. I think that Anderson is probably a case where he situation arose at a bad time to avoid serious consequences. I don't have all the facts, but if it was a situation where the fight inside the bar ended, the guys were kicked out, and they restarted the action in the parking lot -- which is what I have seen reported-- that's different from a normal bar fight. However, I think a suspension, team punishment, etc. would have been the outcome, IF the incident had not come on the heels of the Thomas/Giddens reporting. I have some sympathy for the kid, but he did it to himself.

I think a bar fight is one thing. Guys are always going to start stuff with football players when liquor involved. However, you don't seriously injure a guy either.

As for Saban, the players were scared to death of him. He kicked his share off. Funny how few if any of them have panned out at other schools.

Players make bad decisions rregardless of the coach. Saban wasn't exempt from poor decision making on the part of the players.

The coach's approach on this matter is right on, and is not only the right thing for LSU, but also the right thing for all LSU football players. With the NFL initializing sweeping reforms in the way they deal with problem players, Miles' move provides a foundation for his players and should set a model for other programs that prepares these young men for the rest of their lives and their careers. Instilling stiff conduct requirements now prepares them for the next level of their careers.

If they got arrested for starting a fight tonight, even the most clueless among us knows the answer to that question!

LSU is the place for a lot of high school jock prima donnas to get an education on life. They may have gotten away with immature high school behavior before LSU, but it is time to grow up or leave.

That is irrelevant. They didn't get in trouble, these other guys did, and I have zero issue with him kicking anyone off the team.

Yeah right! He was willing to take back dopeheads all day long! Just ask Rickey Williams! Sounds like strong disciplinary policy to me. Guess those meth labs around tuscaloosa are safe now!!!

Pro and college are a totally different matter. A HC has total control of that in college.

When asked if other schools remain in pursuit of his signature Matchett said, "The day I committed a couple of schools told me they were backing off. LSU told me they had me ranked as the second best back in the nation. Tennessee was recruiting me very hard as well. I committed to the school where I want to be."

That didn't stop players from getting into trouble.

Players themselves are the only ones who can prevent it.

Most will be much more careful about what they do now that they know they will be gone if they do get into trouble.
