Watching "Around the Horn" on ESPN
Bill Plaschke and BoB Ryan just said that they believe the Saints will go undefeated in regular season...

I think I'm gong to cry with joy.

re: Watching "Around the Horn" on ESPN
I think that's a function of our schedule as much as anything else... we had most of our hard games early in the year and our last 9 games include 2 against Carolina, 2 against Tampa, 1 against Washington, and 1 against St. Louis.

I know that anything can happen on any given Sunday, but the table is set as long as we take care of business against New England, Dallas, and at Atlanta.

2 more knuckleheads late to the party.

The undefeated talk is getting silly. This is just the latest topic dujour on 24 hour sports talk shows. There is a lot of dead air to fill. Don't put any stock in what these guys are preaching. Where were they 6 weeks ago? We weren't even on their radar screens. All of a sudden they don't see us losing again? I don't buy it.

The fact of the matter is no matter how good we are, the odds of us running the table are pretty long. Other than the absolute dregs of the league, any team properly motivated and with the right game plan can jump up and bite us in any given week. To go undefeated, we will need to stay very healthy and play at a very high level every week. No letdowns. This is a tall order, people.

Rather than talk undefeated seasons, I prefer to talk about home field. This is really what it's all about. If we keep home field advantage throughout the playoffs, I like our chances. We will be a tough to beat indoors, and would probably be a favorite over the rest of the league at home.

With Minn. playing as well as they are, homefield might require 14-2 / 15-1. Remember, their loss is to an AFC team. If we drop one to Carolina/ATL/Dallas and they dont lose again, they get the 1 seed.

which is still in a dome, so if we are to lose HFA to any team I'd rather it be them

Exactly. And once home field is clinched, does anyone really think we'll play our starters for 4 quarters just to stay undefeated?

I'm thinkin' not.

we play the Panthers in the last game of the season

Home field is huge, but the one good thing is that the other team in the running for the NFC advantage is a dome team.

I'm not downplaying the importance of home field because it is huge and the Saints need, but at least it looks like they wouldn't have to travel to NY, Philly, Chicago, etc in January.

True! We may not even need to play them all 4 quarters next weekend.

Also a dome

I really don't care where the Saints play as long as it's not in Iceland

Indoors is the key. No Packers, Giants or Bears. Weather can be the great equalizer.

Watching Atlanta run the ball last night, it's obvious that our future opponents will try to attack us the same way. The NFL is a copy cat league. We will need to prove we can stop the run. The best way for us to do that is to get up early on people and make them have to throw. This has been a great formula for us so far.

I agree with this. We also need to get Fujita and Ellis back quickly. Fujita may not have the athletic skills that we would like him to have, but he definitely plays smart.

All of the long-suffering New Orleans Saints fans deserve a season like this, especially if it includes a Superbowl appearance or SB win.

For all the loyal fans who have spent money year after year, decade after decade, to see the Saints . . . Congratulations . . . Your Time Has Come.

I think Favre will sputter and the Packers lose some more. They've been playing too closely.

i think when its all said and done I think we will go 3-1 between at atlanta, NE and at Carolina. We will lose one of these games. I predicted 10-6 this year so what the frick I know.

This. As long as we have HFA, I really don't give a rat's arse about undefeated seasons.

Does that make anymore or any less likely to happen? Damn our fans are retarded. I honestly can't tell if our fanbase is better or worse when we are winning compared to losing.
