No. He couldn't hit left handed pitching. So he got hot in the CWS his senior year. That doesn't make Mitchell an all-time great. Those other three were light years better than he was at LSU.

Light years? Really?
Here's Mitchell's career numbers:
2007: .258 (54-for-209), 3 HR, 21 RBI, 18 SB
2008: .297 (52-for-175), 6 HR, 29 RBI, 16 SB
2009: .327 (74-for-226), 11 HR, 50 RBI, 36 SB
Lets start with Zeringue...
2002: .245 (24-for-98), 2 HR, 8 RBI, 1 SB
2003: .339 (77-for-227), 13 HR, 45 RBI, 6 SB
2004: .384 (98-for-255), 12 HR, 57 RBI, 3 SB
A compelling argument for Zeringue can be made, but is that really light years better?

are you even reading the stat line you posted? look at the difference in batting average. yeah, that's pretty significant. neither one should be mentioned for an all-time outfield though, unless you started watching baseball post 2000

Why did you choose to post Zeringue's stats but not Patterson's?
Because Patterson blows Mitchell out of the water and I'm not gonna refute that. But I still think Mitchell gets some love for the postseason he had. That has to count for something.
Zeringue, not so much.
On an off note, I think you should not be allowed to be critical of others attempts at this when said criticizer has not done the same.
Get on that.

I think that he'll get overlooked because of the lack of HR's, but he is clutch and he is productive.
So far for his LSU career, Rhymes is 139 for 342 or a batting average of .406-- .360 last season and .484 so far this year. If he keeps it up this season his two year average could easily move up to .420

That would mean he finishes the season at or near .500. Aint no way that happens brah.
He'll break Russ' record, but he is going to hit a bit of a slump.

Maybe. Maybe not.
Some posters have predicted the same since SEC play started 15 games ago. Arky didn't cool him off. Neither did Auburn, Moo St. or Alabama. Florida had to throw beanballs at him to get him out of the lineup.
We'll see.
