You think Paul still believes a hitting coach is irrelevant?

I could only imagine how this young line up would look under Javi.

I'm just shocked that we named a Recruiting Coordinator after Javy left, since Paulie told us that we didn't really need that position on staff and it was more ceremonial than anything else.

I'm also wondering how our Low-Tee Drills are going this year. Somehow we've managed to progress without the admitted master of this drill to lead us.

Not much different, he probably recruited most of the guys we see playing today.

Nah brah..

Remember "you can either hit or you can't."

Hitting coach has to be the easiest job in the world if that's all you gotta tell your hitters. There's no science, technique to it at all. MLB hitting coaches are basically stealing money.

No technique or science at all? Are you being serious?

frick no I'm not being serious.

That's what Paul was saying when his Godson was coaching the hitters. He said it was basically an overrated coaching position that you recruit great hitters and they can either hit or they can't hit.

That's what BilJ is referencing in this thread.

Thanks for the downvote though.

Amazing that CPM is still mocked by the know it all's on this board when he's had to completely restock his team with 7 new players, something no other coach in Div. 1 has had to do, and is now only 1 game out of first place in the West, 2 back in the entire league. After winning the SEC regular season last yr. And he did hire Coach Can, though of course he gets no credit for that great hire. He did hire Coach Dunn as well, who was the SEC arse. Coach of the Year last yr. Yea, he sucks as a HC.

yeah because that's what I said. You Paulistas can not handle any type of criticism can you?

I'm just pointing out what a world of difference it makes to have a competent hitting coach on board. CPM made all of the excuses in the world for Javi, but its become quite clear he didn't belong coaching at this level.

I support every coach, but we have a worthless figurehead as baseball head coach. Then outstanding support staff and assistant coaches helping.

I seriously rank him as the worst coach at LSU, perhaps tied with CJJ.

This may be one of PM's better jobs coaching since he has been at LSU especially with the top 10 teams in the conference, A&M, Vandy, MSU and Fla. It hasn't been easy.

This team looked dead after A&M series.

Worthless figure heads don't win a national championship, have the most wins in the country last 4 years and the only coach to have his team as a national seed the last four years. Also who hires those coaches. Worthless figure heads don't hire great assistants.

Arguably the two biggest impact newcomers are Duplantis and Romero. Javi had nothing to do with the recruitment of either. Duplantis was spotted by Canizarro and Mainieri at the same time, when they were having an informal interview that led to Canizarro coming on board: LINK

Romero was recruited by Canizarro out of LSUE, was not offered by LSU out of high school (and was not placed at LSUE by LSU): LINK

AtlantaLSUfan, since CPM has been voted by his peers into the collegiate baseball hall of fame & has been voted SEC coach of the year several times, you obviously don't know shite. Last year there was, on any given weekly poll, 4-5 SEC teams ranked in the Top 10. CPM won the regular season league championship. Pretty sure a majority of college teams would love to have a "worthless figurehead" as their HC's.
