and I don't see them losing to any other team on their schedule.

Schedule

Good for us in the long run.

They are 5-1 now, and although they might be a favorite in all of their remaining games, I wouldn't bet on them to run the table.

While on some level I am sure some of the Miles "Haters" like seeing him fail, Most of them are true LSU fans that see the risk he presents over the long haul and want to have more consistency in his position.

In the end they want what is best for LSU and he drives them crazy on the edge like he is. I know because I am constantly torn on my opinion of him myself. I love seeing him rip another teams heart out like he tends to do, but I hold my breath waiting for the odds to catch up to him.

Your 2 paragraphs seem to oppose each other. Les Miles does crazy stuff, and the odds do in fact catch up with him. At the same time, Miles's famed insanity is not at all dangerous for the long-term health of the program. The real issues lie elsewhere, in his ability to manage his coaching staff, which has been an up-and-down struggle from year to year.

I think that 5.5 years into his LSU career, you can at least say this about him--he hasn't allowed his recruiting or his coaching staff to stagnate. When things have gone wrong, changes have come in the offseason ... eventually.

There is legitimate concern that (1) it takes too long to change problems with his staff because he's too loyal to his assistants, and (2) that he might keep Crowton in perpetuity. On the other hand, the offense has shown enough improvement so far this year to give Miles a little more slack.

I'm not sure if this whole Crowton/Gonzalez soap opera is going to ever get resolved properly in 2010/2011, but I think my attitude right now is best summed up as ... "still waiting" ...

Ehh, none of the teams are particularly strong this year, but most of them are pretty good. They're all respectable opponents at least, and it won't be easy to get road wins at UConn and Pitt. Not that winning those games would be a landmark achievement, but they are moderately difficult games.

I was saying before the game if they hadn't scheduled LSU they would have gone undefeated this year, but still wouldn't make it over Boise st. And another undefeated bcs team.

This us why getting good ooc games is tuff. They have a pretty favorable schedule except for the trip to br.

I agree with most of what Doc Fenton wrote. Most times we are too hard on Miles, but the point I do not like is that he (Miles) seems too stubborn to make changes during the season. The QB issue is the most prominent. Even Ray Charles could see that a change needed to be made at QB after the 3rd game, especially when we had a viable option sitting on the bench.

Same thing now. While I appreciate keeping JJ in the games some for his running ability, the current level of performance of JL, and of the offense while JL is in, certainly calls for JL to start or at the very least have by far the majority of the snaps.

Right now, outside of clock management, which can be easily fixed and perhaps already has been, Miles stubbornness over this issue is my only complaint.

While it might not matter against McNeese, continuing to start JJ and only putting in JL when we are behind, could easily cost us a loss that is unnecessary.

I know this has not happened yet, but it certainly concerns me as we go forward to the tougher games.

They play in the Big East, and their only real competition is themselves. They should not lose another game, but then again they really aren't that good.

Best case senario: WVU wins the conference and plays in a BCS bowl.

Last night ESPN called them a lock for a BCS game, bc of the weak Big East

please. miles presents a long term risk? let's see, he is uber successful in recruiting, has the most consistent victory totals in LSU history, wins the games he's supposed to and competitive in games even when he is suppossed to lose and has won 80% of his bowl games. he graduates players at an unprecedented rate, runs a clean program and his players stay out of trouble. believe me when i say, that is top notch. replacing miles could be and probably would be a huge mistake. call me what you want (and i'm sure you will), but if you just step back and compare miles record with ANY COACH IN AMERICA AT ANY TIME IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL, you have to admit that we have a damn good HC. i don't care about his public speaking abilities. the long term risk is not in keeping coach miles, the risk is in letting him go. at any given time on this board, the fans fall in love with a competeing coach. mark richt is a perfect example. fans would have killed for him to be LSU's coach just 12 months ago. no matter the team had a bail bondsman of staff, mo matter he has a losing record now, etc, etc. some fans even want a coach with no HC experience; some guy named muschamp comes to mind. he's a guy that has all the talent in the world and can't stop the run. but, he's gotta be a world beater as a HC, right? frank beamer has been mentioned; yea, let's be like virginia tech! while i agree that some fans don't necessarily want miles to fail (overtly anyway) but they seem willing for anything to happen that will facilitate miles being fired. they are laying low (mostly) after the big UF win, but we are one loss away from their "i told you so" triumphant return.

Chill out man. WVU is overrated, just like all the rest of the wins on our schedule.

Would be awesome for us if WVU wins the Big East and UNC wins the ACC.

I know UNC isn't as likely, but they are at least in the hunt.
