We have very good dual threat QB's. That is, they are supposed to e able to run and throw. However, this is a pro-style offense. Am I wrong to think that a 6'5 QB like Mett wouldn't work better in this scheme. I appreciate that AJ's stats would have been much better without all of the dropped passes, but not having a gunslinger throwing passes all year changes things as well.

Jennings is NOT dual threat QB. He hates to run.

JJ was the wrong type of QB for our offense, it's why JLee and Mett were pretty successful.

Jennings is just not talented enough to play at this level at all. Harris on the other had is a pocket passer who just so happens to be a very effective runner. However he operates better in the shotgun and on roll outs, which are part of a Pro style offense Les is just not a fan.

i don't get it either. why did hayden rettig not get a chance, he seems to fit the offense more than Jennings or harris. qb recruiting and development have been a huge problem for miles.

We don't have an identity. If we want to run the ball have maulers out there and run it down their throats and have a qb that can stand in pocket and throw the ball. If u want to run spread have athletic lineman that can pull and quick rb's that are shifty and make people miss and a running qb. We have a mixture of both and don't excel at either.

The offense is not the problem. It works. We just ran it effectively against 2 REALLY good defenses. You have a good Oline and a stable of backs, the tigers are built for this. I just dont know where 4 passes come from in the OT possession.

Whoever is our QB needs absolute help at WR, and that is regardless of offensive philosophy. They are having serious problems getting off press coverage.

He hates to run but hes not very good at throwing. Something is a problem here, you cant just be good at handing the ball off.

LSU won 2 titles with similar QBs to jennings, all while running a pro-style offense

JLEE had some success but he wasn't a very successful QB in this offense. The 2011 team didn't really matter who was playing QB. Except in the 1st Bama game where Jlee started & ended the game 3/7, 25 yards, 2 ints.

dual threat? Dont you need to be able to pass to be considered part of that threat?

Are you delusional? His passing percentage while in the pocket is probably 25%. He can't pass unless he is out of the pocket on the move. And he has questionable accuracy then.

He is a very good runner who is too skinny to survive running the ball. His passing needs a lot of work.

What two teams? I haven't seen an "effective" offense in a long while.

We have some quality receivers too. Also like 10 TE's on the roster.

Are you seriously comparing Jennings to Mauck and Flynn? REALLY?

AJ is not an anything threat. He may be worse running than throwing.

The question should be, "Is this the same thing we will be seeing next year as well?" Cause I am under the impression that unless Harris gets some playing time the next two games then Jennings will be your starter next year. And all Miles will say is he is going with the guy who has more experience. And we will be in the same boat again plus Harris will possibly transfer at that point.

Go back and watch his HS film. He played in a spread offense and ran often. Harris did the same thing. It's LSU that wants to make them pure pocket passer.

LSU wants to be a "pro-style" offense, yet they bring in guys who do not seem to be very comfortable in that type of offense. They wanted Harris to remain as a pocket passer against AU. He was the one that kept leaving the pocket.

Go watch HS tape of the top QBs. Most of them are in the shotgun 85% throwing timing routes. When they get to LSU they have to learn for the first time ever to drop back from center, sit in the pocket, and wait for LSU's long routes to develop. You're sticking square pegs into round holes.
