Wow. What a Tightrope Alleva is Walking

This presser is not his fault.
He plainly said he was making no decisions until after the regular season.
If he locks up Jimbo and facilitates this change, HE will be the gorilla with the chainsaw penis and will cement his legacy as one of the greatest LSU AD's.
On the other hand, there's a lot of ways this can turn out badly.
If so, he's probably writing his ticket out of here.
I don't see much middle ground between the two extremes.

I think he knows, if he hires a replacement, that his legacy will be remembered by it.
That gives me a glimmer of hope that he'd get someone solid.

There is middle ground in hires like Herman and some others but it is an unknown and could certainly bury him.

Look there is no easy way to fire a coach. JA doesn't deserve to be judged yet. He is making the right move with regard to Miles.
