For the record, Bryce was first team All-SEC last year.

But as you say, they are mid major/lower level guys, LOL.

I'd say Breaux even though Jordan is doing well at the plate right now.

You consider 2-13 with one double, 3 BB, 2 runs "doing well at the plate right now?" compared to 5-14 with a homer, a triple, 5 runs, 3 BB?!?!?

Give me a break dude.

I stand corrected... I misread the stats. Apologies.

Was given out before the SECT as a DH/UT player, he finished the year .293/.419/.410 with 7 doubles and 5 HR. Again, very solid numbers, but not irreplaceable at DH. Remember we had Sciambra and Chinea platoon DH the year before and got fantastic results from there (both hit over .300, Chinea WELL over). McMullen and Scivique platoon'd DH the year before that. We have been used to some really good hitting from the DH spot. Yes, even better than what Bryce gave us last season.

Also, I said Bryce would probably be starting right now if he was healthy...again, that being said, look what Woley has done so far in that spot. The talent we have right now is just very, very good. Which is the main point here. The Jordan twins are hardnosed /heady players, but we just have a lot of talent to compete against. Beau is finding himself being replaced.

I think it's pretty obvious that Bryce is a more advanced player than Beau by a pretty large margin. Now, I would still place Woley, Reid, and even Watson over Bryce for the DH slot. Just because Bryce is a stronger player than Beau doesn't mean he would be a starter on this team. Mainieri obviously adores the twins, but they're just so limited and they have such ugly at bats, it's tough to give them the nod over just about anyone else.

These two would kill it at the ULM, UNO, and Lamars of the world. They're just not LSU caliber starters.

Why have they been a disappointment?

They're built like fullbacks, not baseball players.

I agree, to say they've been disappointing is outrageous. They both gave us solid not necessarily spectacular seasons last year as starters...NEITHER came in with super high hype. Both were barely Top 500 players nationally. It's not like they came in like an Alex Bregman, or Slaughter/Smith type of hype. Watson actually came in with a TON of hype. Curious to see if he lives up to it. Was #1 in the state by perfect game. Have to think he finds his way either in the OF or 3B next season if they indeed move Smith and Slaughter to the inside INF. Maybe even SS if he proves his defense is the best amongst the 3.

Looks like beau might be breaking out of his slump, a platoon might be in order

After tonight, I say just keep flipping them until one pulls out in front. Hell, if they both keep going, just move Beau to DH.

Down for a platoon. Beau cannot hit righties but kills lefties. Brennan hits righties better. We should get the good out of each of them depending on situations.

Well, this is completely false

ETA: If that hustle "double" doesn't make your hair stand up on your back with excitement, then you need to go find a different sport to watch. You can't teach hustle.

To be fair, any other outfielder wouldn't have had to "stretch" it into a double, their speed would have made it a double by default.

False. A majority, if not all, would have rounded first base. Beau hustled straight out of the box and got that double. That's heart and determination.

It was Pete Rose ish.

ETA: In '09 Jared Mitchel took advantage of a few lazy outfielders for an extra base.

It was a good hustle and all, but a good throw has him. Then you would all be complaining about how stupid it was.

We may have lost the game if he was thrown out, because we ended up scoring that inning.

I was at the Auburn game at Auburn when Jared Mitchell scored from second base on a sacrifice fly to deep center field.

It wasn't a good throw tho. If a player is making a hustle play and the guy makes a perfect throw to throw them out then I'm not mad at the play. The question If he doesn't stretch that into a double does he score? He advanced to third on a base hit then scored on a sacrifice. If he doesn't take the extra base he is only at second after the base hit by Smith and Kramer's fly ball would have just been the second out. Now Kramer's approach changes if there is a man on second rather than third and he might have got a base hit but you never know.
