Would you be open to changing the college baseball postseason format?

Personally I'd be against it. Regional weekend is one of the best times of the year. Plus it prepared your team for your side of the bracket in Omaha.. as they have the same format.

I hadn't heard of this until one of the A&M games where Kyle Peterson brought it up. His reasoning was teams play a series every weekend until postseason play.. So why change it to such an odd (in relation to baseball) format?

I suppose they would change it to a tournament of a series a week until you get to 8 teams.

It would still be 64 teams. Seed teams 1-32 on two sides of a bracket and the better seed is the home team.

64 teams play 2/3
32 teams play 2/3
16 teams play 2/3
CWS

I don't get this though because the CWS would assumably stay the same format. Which that format is the reason people want to change the Regionals.

Ah well. I thought it was odd when Kyle Peterson brought it up. I love the current format.

There would be a lot of pointless series that first weekend.

No

I enjoy ranters speculating out of their arse, and enjoy game thread regulars talking out of their arse in contradicting them

I don't think that would matter. No one watches anyways so it wouldn't hurt ratings. And people that like college baseball are going to watch no matter what. The teams that would have been 2/3 seeds in a regional would be good matchups round 1. Plenty of 1/4 games are a joke currently. I'm against changing it but yeah..

I think it just adds a boring week of baseball for most of the teams and fans. And then you have travel for these smaller schools that isn't very realistic. Say Stoney Brook goes to Florida and wins, then they have to go to Cal Poly, then to LSU before they get to Omaha. That's a little much.

This is something being pushed by the northern schools so there would be more host sites in the first round. Problem is you would end up with a series like LSU-Texas Southern in the first round.

I know that it makes money, but this post-season SEC baseball tourney is a waste of time. Play an extra 3 SEC games and leave it at that. The teams that wins the most SEC games after 33 games is the champion.

Keep the regional and superregional format. The CWS is fine the way it is...except bring in the outfield fences. A Complete CWS tourney with only 3 HR's hit is a major fail.

This right here is the reason it would never happen. Most schools don't make money on baseball anyway, but this would have an underdog team making a run hemorrhaging. Not to mention the toll travel would take on the team.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

call me old fashioned but I liked the old format before the super regionals. The team regionals made for some exciting games and a team really had to have a pitching staff to survive. I know I will be in the minority but I really like the winner take all championship game in Omaha.

I think it is only a matter of time before they switch it to format of 32 best of 3 series, then 8 four team superregionals.

I miss then too. Four straight days of nothing but baseball from before lunch usually until late into the evening.

you'd still watch... i like the idea bc we think of college baseball in series anyway.

BUT

ESPN isn't gonna have cameras at 32 different sites. Plus it makes it more likely that teams will be sent to ballparks that physically cannot host their fanbases...

maybe have 16 host sites but two series at each one per weekend?

You'd also have gotten Miami/Stony Brook 2 years ago.

And Fresno State/some #1 seed 4 years ago.
