Would LSU ever consider playing a good team, or an SEC game for Homecoming?

Or would any college for that matter.

As an out of state Alum I would like to come back for homecoming festivities, but if I'm coming in for a game I would much rather it be a big game and not East Directional University. Do you think LSU or any other school would consider this? Or do the coaches and AD not want the team to have to deal with extra distractions during big games?

Imagine if we played UF or Bama for Homecoming, that atmosphere would be awesome around campus and during the game?
Even just a regular SEC game for Homecoming would be cool.

Ah you're right we did. I wish we would do this more often, or even make it on an even bigger game

I'd rather not see that happen.

We have. Homecoming is a joke game anyways. I think we should get a better team to come in. At least a mid-major team

I liked the Miss St. game in 2012. I wouldn't mind it being a mid level SEC team like that. I wouldn't want to play Bama, Florida, or aTm for homecoming though.

Eta: Now that I've thought more about it I don't really care about homecoming. It really doesn't affect me either way so I don't care who we play.

With the improvements in travel, the concept of homecoming has become a bit antiquated, unfortunately.

I don't think it would work because it's a similar arguement as the "make a better OOC schedule" arguement. It sounds great in theory but the day that LSU loses homecoming people would march on the Football ops building looking for Miles' head on a platter.

I would be fine if they did away with Homecoming all together.

Yea I guess this helps me appreciate Homecoming more. I was in a Fraternity and they always have a big alumni thing the night before, and a great alumni tailgate where we can all get together like we're back in college. It's quite an incentive, if it was a good game it would be a no brainer

This, if anything the universities use homecoming to sell tickets to crap games. There is no problem selling out the stadium for Florida or Alabama. But if you have a mid-season rent-a-win game, homecoming helps full up the stadium.

Playing the MulliGumpNecks at 8:15 pm on CBS on HC, with ESPN game day, would be awesome.

It would be easy for the student organizations to pomp their HC decorations too: Mike eating out of a Detergent box with Skoal Juice and teabags dripping out of the side.

The only good thing about homecoming, for the most part, is that it gets us a night game (normally).

We were Alabama's homecoming opponent in 2001 when Rohan Davey went off for 528 yards passing as we won, 35-21.
