The advantage is that you make the defense play 11 on 11 rather than 11 on 10...

You are allowed two ends and 4 RB's in formation. When all of them are a threat to run and receive then you have stretched the defensive scheme and made the defense more complicated.

If Jalen Hurts was a drop back passer it would have been a field goal contest in overtime.

All the stud RBs we seem to always have. I have never understood why we get dual threat QBs we just need a good to above average passer that don't make major mistakes and we would be just fine. Just my humble opinion.

A strong passing game is the way of the future. A dual threat qb typically gets most of his yards on an unexpected run. The idea that 11 on 11 vs 11 on 10 is outdated and really only works if there is a significant talent difference or no huddle attack that wears a D down.

Spread offenses have been in the NFL for a long time. They're just more complex and mixed in with other formations. The concepts are all there.

NFL QB's are too important to use in this system due to increased chances of injury. Very few run it for this reason. Your QB will get snuffed out and take unnecessary hits.

I'm talking about read option....the spread sets are used in the NFL.

Well your opinion is wrong ! You dont want a tebow newton manziel young Watson or hurts? Frick above average. I want a superstar dynamic playmaker because that's what wins

yeah, but Hurts + Harris = 1740, so you're getting the same production just spread out.

Plus, do you think Harris is as good as Henry? From my limited view, I sure don't

No nfl team runs a spread offense. They run spread concepts.

Tell that to the 5* running back recruit that not only hast to share carries with another back but the QB as well.

I'm not sold on Harris being better , but also not sure BAMA has pushed the envelope on the running game . Kiffen seems to kinda be like Mike leach ... just does it cause he hast to .

A spread by definition is a 3WR set

Majority of the league uses 3WR as base formation. I think 52 plus percent of snaps are out of 3 wide sets

Well, we aren't going to be running the wishbone, so I'm going with little to no effect.

The best offense in NFL history, the 2007 patriots, was very arguably a spread offense. We've seen it plenty in the NFL, but the hash marks certainly help limit some of it.

We're seeing an ever increasing use of single back shotgun sets that spread out defenses year after year. There are spread oriented offenses.

Guice is running like 8.4 ypc in his career at LSU. You thinking he should be getting over 10 ypc?

The 2007 patriots had two of the best receivers all time on the team in their primes - Moss/Welker

That's why they smashed records. Brady has never sniffed numbers like that before or since. Total fluke year.
